Luck plays no part in random loot from chests. Green Mead Cave, northeast of Skingrad, has a lot of chests. Boss chests have a 25% chance, to contain rings, and even then there is a 1 in 200 chance, of getting the ring you want. Fishing for a specific item can take forever. Save before entering the cell containing the Boss chest. Reload and kill, until you get what you want.

Good luck...you'll need it.

Sure it does. But it's your luck, not your character's luck :)

Creature dungeons as great for rings. Here's a list. Kingscrest Cavern and Crayfish cave are also my favorites.

But if you're looking for one rare time that can be frustrating. I know from experence. Like going through seemingly endless Necromancer and Conjurer dungeons before finding a Master Mortal and Pestle I was looking for.

...Good luck...you'll need it.

Exactly

I completely disagree, luck does indeed play a major part in Oblivion.Luck is a very important attribute indeed, and is more often than not completely overlooked by most people. All my characters are custom built with Endurance and Luck as their 2 choices, plus Thief as your star sign, this will ensure you start with Luck at 65. The higher your luck - the better loot you get in boss chests etc, it does work friend, for I have had great success at finding important rings etc, I`ve found 2 mundane rings fairly quickly, 2 ring of iron fist rings also, so it does work.Start a new character with luck at 65 and you will see the difference it makes for yourself, I always concentrate on getting both Endurance and Luck up to 100 first before anything.

From the wiki...
"Luck does not have any impact on what loot you will receive from containers or other leveled lists."

When a person believes in a thing, there is a tendency to notice the things which confirm the belief, and to not notice the things which contradict it. The human mind is really good at finding patterns in randomness. :)

If there's any connection between Luck and randomly placed loot, it's secretly buried in the game engine, and nobody (that I know of) has managed to measure it objectively. I personally am willing to concede that the wiki has it right. I've had a host of different characters, and I've never noticed any loot benefit to high luck.

I still disagree I`m afraid.Luck is a particulary useful attribute early in the game,so investing in a luck bonus can be very advantageous, especially to a well-rounded character. It may or may not affect loot etc, that`s your opinion, but according to uesp.net/wiki/oblivion Luck is a very important attribute within the game itself.I have always had pretty good fortune having my luck at 100, so I can only go by that I`m afraid. Each to there own.

I see Luck, as swaying a chance for something to happen or not happen. A 1 or 0, if you will. Random encounters, hit or miss...Things like that. Having Luck influence something like, what type of loot, seems far fetched. I would think, that after 5 yrs, the mechanics of the subject have been diligently explored.

Agreed. :)

Luck very definitely has a game effect. Skills are raised (behind the scenes, to a max of 100) by 40% of any Luck in excess of 50. So a luck of 60 raises all skills by a hidden bonus of 4 points.

:brokencomputer: Haha, well seeing as you put it like that, I can see your point.I guess we are all guilty of having blinkered vision at times with how we in particular our games. So its quite easy to believe in something once you`ve done it often enough I suppose.Anyway its nice to meet you by the way.I maybe wrong indeed but I`ve always stuck with luck and endurance in every character over the last 5 years, so maybe I`ll try something else while waiting for Skyrim lol.

Good to meet you as well. I think most of us here are passing the time before Skyrim. Good LUCK...

Yes. And contributing to this, I think, is that when some people level their character's up, they add to Luck. Then they find better stuff. So a tendency may be to think that is because they increased Luck, as opposed to better stuff being available at higher levels.

This has been discussed many times on this forums. Every systematic test I've seen here seems to validate that there is no effect on loot.

I used to also think that luck effects loot outcomes, but after observing over many ours of playing my characters, I found the high end items that pop up did not coincide with having a high luck attribute value. If you're character is of high enough level to get some of the better random loot, that loot shows up the same if you have a high or low value in the luck attribute, regardless. To my experience anyway.

@OP. There are 3 quest areas that can give you guaranteed enchanted jewelry. For a couple of them to work, your character must not yet have visited the areas mentioned.

1) Serpant's Wake ship in Anvil's harbor. There's a high elf that gives you a quest to go in the ship and retrieve something. If haven't done that one yet and start the quest save before you enter the ship. Inside the ship, in the captains cabin, there is a treasure chest guaranteed to spawn one enchanted jewelry item.

2) Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary's sleeping quarters in Cheydinhal. If you haven't yet entered that room, once you get there, save before you enter it. One of those chests beside the beds in that room is guaranteed to spawn an enchanted jewelry item. I think it is Telaendril's chest.

3) The Blind Moth Prelate guarding Savilla's stone (the TG guildmaster's first quest they give you) is guaranteed to spawn an enchanted jewelry item. I just don't know where to save in order for a different enchanted jewelry item to be spawned when you load a save.

One last thing you can also do is if your mercantile skill is 50+, go see Earil at Earil's Mysteries in Crucible, New Sheoth, Shivering Isles. If your mercantile skill is good enough, he sells 3 randomly spawned, enchanted jewelry pieces and his inventory will reset every three game days. Just stay away from New Sheoth long enough to let the area reset. After you visit Earil for the first time, leave for three days and the next time you go to New Sheoth, enter through Bliss and save right at the door before you enter Crucible from Bliss. That way you can just reload your save, if Earil's inventory doesn't contain the enchanted jewelry item you want.

I’ve found the ring at least twice. Once in Fort Nomore at level 27 and again in Swampy Cave at level 21. The only luck that has anything to do with it is your own personal luck. Good luck!
