why does it matter that one game was broken, skyrim isnt rage it is a different engine, and even if it does have technical issues the patches will be coming out faster this time

The only correlation I can see is, yes they focused on one console and pushed it to the other ones, same thing beth is doing. I'm not expecting it to be anywhere near rage.

From the article:"PC Gamer caught up with programming legend..."

Here is the thing. Carmack isn't a legend. He did Doom and then Quake. 100 years ago. Since that time everything he has done has been mediocre at best yet the game industry confers god status upon him same as they do Peter Molyneux. The Fable games never lived up to the hype and they seem to be getting worse each release, but still the game industry waits with baited breath for what he will over promise and under deliver on next.

If you had high hopes for Rage then you are probably thinking the next Fable won't svck and will pre-order that too.

Id is a studio that is still around not because of quality games, but hype. "Yes, yes, everything in the last 10-15 years has svcked, we agree with you, but we learned our lesson and just wait for our next game that will revolutionize the industry."

Don't understand why people still fall for this.

Bethesda's technical team is honestly undoubtedly worse. I'd say the Rage problem is a huge deal if only because this is the failure of John Carmack. Anyone who knows anything about the history of computer game programming should be able to decipher the problem with this.

Bethesda drew in a resource of almost an entirely new departments worth of people to help with Skyrim. Skyrim will not repeat the same mistakes oblivion did. The game play footage from the six box 360 alone should be evidence of that.

Todd Howard will not let a buggy game out into the market. It would damage his name and no particular date is as important as is his name within the industry. Todd knows better than to put his name behind a buggy product. They are zapping all of the bugs right at this very moment I imagine. And they are having fun adjusting the resolution and graphics settings for the PC port right now! We all need to calm down and not compare an Elder Scrolls title to anything other than the previous titles in the series.

I'm so worried I'm gonna *yaaaawwwn* take a nap. TES is Beth's favorite child. Like they're gonna let it grow up to be a flunky? Nah.

The trailers alone are 360-exclusive. They're repeating the same mistakes to a T... focusing too much on one platform and poorly porting to the others. It's not just Oblivion, it's Morrowind and Fallout 3's problem, as well, and trailers are also explicitly designed to only show off what the devs want you to see, anyway. They've done nothing to prove that they aren't repeating their mistakes, they're playing right into the theory.

There's a million other ports of console to PC games that run fine, and there's examples of games that had shaky starts that were PC dedicated releases as well. Each game is its own, and each game engine is its own.
