...I adore what Crytek have done and commend them for giving us a truly unique and masterpeice of technical achievement...

Lul, go say that in the PC Discussion now and watch sparks fly >.<

I can't say much about the PS3 version though (I don't own a PS3, I don't own Crysis 2 for a PS3, and I'm a Xbox 360 fan)

I'm talking about the multiplayer only, I have no use for single player campaigns in shooters (just my preference). But Crysis 2 has to be the worst multiplayer experience I've ever had. Here are hte reasons why it is so terrible.

1. Poor framerate. I've played games where the framerate might dip when a lot of stuff is going on, but it wasn't terrible. In Crysis 2, the framerate is game breaking. Running around, the screen updates slightly faster than a power point slideshow. Close encounters tend to just be random, because neither player gets enough visual information on the screen to be able to react quickly enough.

2. Controls are sloppy and unresponsive. I turned up the sensitivity, but it doesn't help much. Pulling up sight and aiming at someone is clunky. It reminds me of the controls in Killzone 2 (though that was a solid game otherwise).

3. Lag/hit detection are embarrassingly bad. It can take a whole clip to kill someone, or it may just take a couple bullets, you never know. Gun battles are clumsy and awkward, and has nothing to do with skill, and everything to do with luck and lag. Aiming right at somebody and firing more shots doesn't mean you will win. Every gun fight I've been in seem to be both players struggling to stay on target. Close encoutners will have both players spraying and meleeing wildly. Midrange has people aiming and strafing, hoping enough shots will be detected. Long range gun fights seem to be nonexistant, and would be utterly pointless anyway.

4. Graphics are just terrible. Low resolution and muddy textures. This is one of the worst looking games I've played on the PS3. Even Black Ops has better graphics, and that's saying something. I can accept bad graphics if it means higher framerate and more responsive gameplay (Black Ops), but I get none of these benefits in Crysis 2.

5. People's playstyle have to accommodate the terrible framerate and lag. This means a lot of people just sit cloaked until you run by, then they switch on armor and shoot you. You can't turn around and shoot back accurately because of the lag and terrible controls. It's just not a fun game when 90% of the players are just sitting somewhere cloaked and waiting. But I can't blame them, it's almost the only way to guarantee you'll get a kill.

Overall I am hugely disappointed with this game. I paid 60 dollars for it, and it is so bad I never want to play it again. I will probably force myself to try it a few more times, to try to get my money's worth, but it's just a hideously bad game. I am really upset, because I was expecting this game to be amazing. I can't understand where all the positive critical reviews came from, but now that people are playing it, some of the negative reviews are starting to appear. Apparently this game is actually good on PC. But on PS3 (and Xbox from what I hear), it's just trash. There are no redeeming qualities to this game right now. Maybe they can fix some stuff via patches, but I don't think they can completely overhaul it enough to make it a good, playable game.

Unfortunately i agree with you.
The framerate in this game makes it unplayable, as you so clearly put it: "Close encounters tend to just be random, because neither player gets enough visual information on the screen to be able to react quickly enough."

Let him say however he feels about the game. It isn't like he's going to affect Crytek's plan for the game and they'll just ditch it (Like shut down the multiplayer side of Crysis 2). We are a community, not an angry mob. The word here folks is discussion.

Now then! Crysis 2 to me was not as broken as Call of Duty: Black Ops. I moved my ps3 closer to my wireless router and changed my wireless router to a newer model. Black Ops plays faster in frame rate but my internet speed was always slower than everyone elses' somehow... I have full green bars too. That doesn't matter when I'm laying on the battlefield ALOT in BO. Where in there are plenty of times I shot first. That's what you call false representation of internet condition or speed or whatever. This problem I am explaining to you doesn't occur in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I can have any amount of bars with any colors for my connection (Except 1 red bar of course). I'll still be able to drop people left and right. Without stopping power with almost any weapon.
Now with that in mind Crysis 2 plays like CoD 4 to me. Just slower (Frame rate) and I need to improve my aim because the people in Crysis 2 can aim for the head like it's another day at work. My NAT is Moderate and as I observed my shots hit people without a problem. I even watched my younger brother play with my english friend as the squad leader. My brother had a one bar connection. He was able to drop a couple guys where in he should have died. As far as deaths go. My brother and I only died from normal FPS deaths. Not the crazy I shot this guy a million times. Then that same guy or his partner just back handed me then I died death.

That is my experience with Crysis 2. I did not say Crysis 2 is the best game evar! Don't hate! It's just that I didn't run into your problems quite yet...

After having played Crysis2 for a week now, I just took a few games of MW2. OMG that game runs so incredibly smooth on the PS3. How can developers of first person shooter games not have it as a absolut must to get the games running at 60fps. I just cannot understand it. Who cares about lighting effects or other graphics, when we have to look at it as a choppy unplayable slideshow of 20fps?

Come on Crytek, at least get this potentially great MP game running at a SOLID 30fps.

Maybe I'm blind because OP and some others think the graphics in this game is horrible. I thought the graphics weren't that bad.

For the love of God, I hope you are a 5 year old with downs-syndrome, because if you're not, there is absolutely no exuse for communicating with a punctuationless bombardment of garbled words like you posted right there.

I have a headache from trying to make sense out of that.

Homefront's a smooth running game? You got to be kidding me, the amount of complaints that game has received is unbelievable.

I didn't like Homefront, to many issues with it so traded it in and I think that's the best you can do with this game.

Homefront runs beautifully. The only problem with it right now is matchmaking. It takes too long to find a game. But once you're ina game, it runs absolutely perfectly. Dedicated servers, no lag, perfect hit detection. Graphics are a little subpar, but the framerate is solid. Homefront gameplay is well polished.

Terrible PS2 quality graphics. If it's run on dedicated servers then how come there's loads of complaints about them, I did read that in the first few days it was actually running on P2P until they added more servers. The biggest complaint are the crashes/freezes that a lot of people have been complaining about.

My first night of playing the game it froze 5 times in the first hour so I gave up, the constant resetting of yoru console like that will more then likely damage it. I'm not the only one, everyone I know is having the same issue and there are hundreds of complaints about it on their forums and facebook page. Homefront is the worse release in gaming history.

This game is broken YES in performance, framerate, lag etc etc,

but graphics-wise it is the best multiport game to date.

You can think otherwise, fan-based or not. But objectivly its a fact.
In graphical design it kicks the **** out of everything but exclusive titles.
You have to separate technical graphics from visuals.
Maybe some multiport games can have a better visual experience but not graphics.
But I have a hard time thinking of any multiported game visually better also.

Performance-wise it svcks! A total fail and I too believe it's nothing that can be patched
Hope to be proven wrong

It's all the connection. I am having the same issues. I've gotten killed around 2 corners and almost in the building before. Its best when you are the host, you won't have most of those problems. I have gone 17-0 being the host for a game. They seemed to do the COD style hosting instead of going with dedicated servers. I can't believe EA did that. MOH and BFBC2 had dedicated servers. At least Battlefield 3 will have dedicated servers. They knew they had issues with these servers from the PS3 demo. They should have delayed the release or at least did a demo a month ago like they did on xbox. They would have been able to work out some of the bugs. Seems PS3 owners getting the shaft. Plus there isn't any news on multiplayer issues. Crytek keeping gamers in the dark about what's going on. By now they should have at least done a tweet saying were working on it. The only thing on twitter is for PC. This site only has PC stuff on main page. Seems all the review stuff is for single player not multiplayer. Were all sick of COD and want a new game. I was hoping for this to be "the game." The lag is ruining an otherwise beautiful game. If it isn't fixed soon, I will be going back to Homefront. I can't believe a no name game like that has dedicated servers, it makes all the difference. Yeah the graphics aren't better than Crysis 2, but I can do work on a one bar connection. Also, some of the maps are too big for 6v6, they should have thrown in some 12v12. The other playlists aren't that great and you don't get that much XP. I played an extraction game that lasted 3 minutes yesterday. I spent longer joining session, voting, and loading than the actual game. If you want to level up quick, stick with instant action.

FAMAUG learn how to play the game and you will have fun, yes, frame rate issues we have but will be patched soon, if not, please leave the forums and sell/trade the game...see you!!!!

I fully agree with you on that. Crysis 2 is one of the best games I have ever played, just because its not a CoD title people have to assume it's bad.
