Hi,

This is my first message ever on these forums. I know that nobody cares for these kinds of messages, hell, I don't usually spend my time to read them either, but I just felt like writing this.

I have always respected Crytek, you guys and girls have always not only pushed the PC-hardware to the limits and beyond, but also delivered games like no other company has. From Farcry to Crysis and Crysis: Warhead you have always pushed it a little further, making each game a little better than the last one. And I have no doubt in my mind that you will do the same with Crysis 2, even if it's also developed for the consoles.

I have had my copy of Crysis 2 pre-ordered since it came available on amazon.co.uk, and I have eagerly waited for 25th day to come. I even spent 900€ on upgrading my computer last month for Crysis 2 and The Witcher 2 that is coming later this year, so I'm able to enjoy both games at their best.


And today, I canceled my pre-order.

It has nothing to do with Crytek, but I simply won't support a publisher like EA. The recent days have been pretty awful to watch, with Dragon Age 2 having hidden SecuRom DRM that's not even mentioned in the game box or EULA, and with gamer getting banned from all access to not only Dragon Age 2, but also Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2 for this comment: "Have you sold your souls to the EA devil?" on Bioware forums. EA has not been a company it used to be since late 1990 and early 2000. And this time they crossed the line, at least the imaginary line which I have drawn, with removing access to legally owned games from a customer.


I sincerely hope Crysis 2 is a success, and I hope Crytek will be able to make it a series that challenges not only the best computer FPS games, but also console FPS games. I'm also sorry for not being able to support your game and the great company that Crytek has become, as you do deserve it. Heck, you even said "No!" to the EA's Online Pass "thing", and that alone deserves a praise.

Oh well, this is starting to get too long. I wish you success on the path you have chosen and I hope you get great reviews on the game you worked so hard all these years to make

they put out the sweet games, and I love them, personaly I have never had a problem with EA. people get all butthurt over DRM, but its not like it does anything but keep a game from being pirated a bit longer; if you have a multi-million dollar company and you wanted to protect your investments, you would do the same.

why I hate EA? they are too controling, and are too big, and that hurts the little developers.

You are still able to support Crytek by buying the game.

Buying a game gives the vast majority of the profit to the publisher, not the dev. Unless you're buying a Valve game on STEAM, or The Witcher 2 on GoG, you're supporting the publisher, not the dev.

And the OP refuses to support EA Games, something I can get behind. And just when I thought they'd started to clean up their act...

He probably means he isn't allowed to download the DLC for those games anymore, since you can only do that if you have an account, to which all DLC is tied. If that account is deleted, you lose the DLC, permanently.

And according to Terms of Service (http://tos.ea.com/legalapp/WEBTERMS/US/en/PC/) they reserve the right to cut your access to the game for as long as they please.

Edit: Not only are the DLC's account tied, but the game activations are too. Meaning you can not play the games you have bought if your account is suspended.

Just because EA can be total jerkheads doesn't mean you shouldn't buy and enjoy Crysis 2... :-\

Damn, never noticed that part. I never actually expected companies to enforce the "you play it as long as we allow you to" thing.

**** that. Seriously, both the person who reported him, and the one responsible for banning him, are complete biches.

That being said, for me buying games isn't about supporting anyone. If I don't like the game, I won't buy it. I certainly don't go out of my way to buy EA games though, as most of the time there are online issues of some description. (FNR4, EA MMA, FNR3[servers closed])
