Aligned with NCR and was idolized, but on the way through Ranger Station Delta I saw a veteran and my character just snapped.... KIlled him (and a couple others) to get that sweet armor, trenchcoat, helmet outfit on the cover of the game box.

Now, I have "Dark Hero" rep with NCR which I kinda like better anyway. Now Boone and I can wander the wastes both as troubled souls.

I did the same thing as well, except my attack was more...premediated.

I had planned on getting that armour for awhile, so when the Veteran Rangers finally came, I waited for one of them to sleep at Camp Golf and then put a grenade into his pants with the help of a stealth boy. Another time, I pushed one of them off the tower at Camp Forlorn Hope and then killed him out of sight. (Also using a Stealth boy)

In both cases, the NCR turned hostile, but I didn't lose any reputation with them, and they all turned back to friendly/neutral after my Stealth Boy expired. Somehow, they were hostile when the Stealth Boy was active, but not when it was deactivated.

IMO, It's one of the nicest-looking armour in-game.

Lol you should have waited Now there is a free reward armor coming with the new patch, in the NCR safehouse as Lord_Ka1n already said.

I thought that devs will do something about this, cause there are too many people wanting this suit without killing their NCR friends. I am one of them and can't wait for the new patch.

Or do what I do when there is a tough enemy-use the Anti-Material Rifle.

I got the armor about 7 times (repaired so I have 1 set), I killed 7 Veteran Rangers at Camp Golf and I was satisfied.

I went to camp golf, I had about 17 C4's on me, and I reverse-pickpocketed them all onto the Vets. I went hidden, and used the detonator....

It was a very satisfying explosion to say the least.

"Hey! Did you hear that gunshot?"
"Yes, there's no mistaking it. It's the Courier!"

The courier really should stop signing his bullets :lmao:

Too late for me, but I'll look ih the safehouse for that armor as a repair set. I like the Dark Hero rep anyway.

Well its soo easy.. just wait around till you see em walking away and snipe snipe snipe snipe.. loot loot loot loot. or of your realy lazy just stand around waiting where they fight each other and patrols will pop up and fight sooner or later. But I do so love popping all of em in the head and watching the eyeballs roll downhill.

I just took the one from the NCR ranger who got sniped during the 'save the president' quest.

I just had some legion pop-tarts with NCR breakfast burritos for brunch yesterday.

BTW, does the NCR Veteran Combat Helmet really gives you night-vision?

It gives you nothing. It's a regular hat with no bonus except some DR.

From the look of it, I thought it would give some rad resistance (like a power armor helmet). Oh well, still looks good.
