"I'm Sorry!"

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 4:39 pm

Hey everyone.

I really like this game, but there are major problems. That's not why I'm posting this. I am just asking if maybe in future patches/updates we could get a "Sorry" dialog section. I have everyone at Silver Rush wanting to kill me because I walked past the thugs. I tried to put my weapon away to say sorry or something, but I couldn't they just wanna shoot my guts out! Even if I have to pay a fee for causing trouble. I think this would help many others in situations who may accidentally shoot someone or make a mistake.

Your thoughts?

I would but the guy at the door is hard to kill and then he gets reinforcements from inside when he gets low. Also I just want to go in see what its like. This would help in other parts of the game also.

Don't be afraid to crank down the difficulty if things get rough. I have completed their quest line so they like me :). There's not much in there besides a merchant and a [censored] load of energy weapons laying around. In fact, I suggest you bump down the difficulty and go in there and kill them all! They have weapons I've never even heard of before! Don't forget to bring your companions and like thirty stimpaks.

Spoiler
Inside you have to wait for the owners to deal with their customer, after which the thugs will let you pass. It's scripted.

They sell a few energy weapon mods that are worth buying, but their item stock isn't that great usually. The best reason to go into the silver rush is the one where you use a stealth boy and steal everything that they were dumb enough to leave on a table :P

Yeah, from what I know of the Van Graphs, if you pissed them off by walking into a restricted area, they aren't going to accept an "I'm sorry!", no matter how earnest on your part. They delight in killing people. Just resign yourself to not being able to be friends with a business that uses people (like you!) to test out its weapon stock. Have fun getting out alive.

And most people in an post-apocalyptic world with limited medical care are not going to take an apology for getting accidentally shot. They are going to go for the whole "eye for an eye" way of handling disputes. Just practice some weapon control, or finish the bastards off, and you won't have a problem.

That's the thing. I didn't shoot them. I walked past some thugs. I was saying it would help if someone did shoot someone else.

I didn't even use a stimpack (their guards weren't that bad, assault carbine loaded with AP rounds took them out like the Nazis on Jews). But they certainly had more guns and ammo than I knew what to do with (I only use conventional weapons, so everything in there was pure caps for me). Needless to say I left the Gun Runners with quite a bit of ammo and a few new toys.

Load back an earlier save if you are that intent on being friends with them. You should always make saves to revert to if things go wrong.

That being said, the Van Graffs are [censored]es anyway, i killed the whole lot of them.

That's what I'm saying. Who cares if you shot them or not? You walked past thugs into a restricted area. Let me put it in perspective for you:

You shoulder past two guards for a mafia don in his private residence into a restricted area. And this mafia don, say, is a sadistic psychopath who enjoys killing for fun. It's his hobby. You really think he gives a [censored] whether you say sorry or not? Because, let's add to this scenario with one other important piece of information. By shouldering past the guards, you saw him kill a dude. Also, there are no authorities to prosecute him if he kills you. What are the odds he says, "Oh, no problem. I understand it was a mistake. Go on your way and have a great day!" :shakehead:

That above nearly perfectly describes the Van Graphs.

Spoiler

They just killed a dude because he was trying to renegotiate a price! And you just shoved past their guards! Your ass is dead.
