sotha sil question

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:24 pm

Does any one know how sotha sil lost his lower body and left arm?

I was think maybe it happened when he fought with Almalexia in the Battle against Mehrunes Dagon. Im not sure though.....

To my knowledge, it's never explicitly explained in any game books or official lore, although there did seem to be a hint in 2920. After Alamalexia awoke in Balmora and saw Vivec sitting next to her bed, she shot up in bed and said "Sotha Sil?" as if she expected him to be dead, but Vivec assured her that he was alright.

I always assumed she presumed him dead because Dagon inflicted some ghastly wounds on him during the struggle. That's entirely my speculation, however. It's possible he did lose some limbs that day and decided not to use his divinity to grow them back.

That's only my opinion..others will have their own.

Another opinion I hear get tossed around a lot is that he removed them himself to rid himself of mortal imperfections.

I have my own theory that he removed his flesh to attempt to "clone" himself like Divath Fyr did with his "girls", and that maybe there's a mad Sotha Sil clone running around out there somewhere, but that's really just my imagination being silly and overactive.

He is known to be one of the Psijic Order, a reclusive group of mages residing on a constantly-shifting island of the Summerset Isles. So maybe your right.

I'm sorta leaning towards the idea that TES:V will be set in summerset isles.

And if Fyr could do it i bet sotha sil could.

That would be so cool to have him in TES:V.

Oh, I'm well aware... Sotha is my favorite Tribunal member and one of my favorite characters from Lore. I was very disappointed when he was dead in Tribunal. I was pumped to meet him after all the lore I read.

He was so cool that Bethesda couldn't possibly make him cool enough, so they had to kill him off.
(No, I can't back that up. :P)

It is Plausible that sotha sil lives. Some where in the summerset isle.

One of the things I found strange was how he didnt try to fight back when alemlexia was killing him. He didnt even say any thing or make a sound. So maybe he made some sort of decoy?? Maybe in TES:V we will learn about the wizards of the Psijic Order.

They must be quite powerful to have a false god among there ranks.

A false god? Sotha Sil was as surely a god as any god is a god. He just acquired it differently.

In my opinion, dead is better tha botched. Having him dead is frustrating, but safer than having him alive and disapointing.

I think it's fairly safe to assume that Sotha Sil is taking the permanent dirt nap.

"Weep not for Sotha Sil. He shed his mortality long ago, and I am certain his death was no small relief to him." -Azura to Nerevarine

I figure if anyone's word is fairly reliable, it's Azura's.

As for what happened to his body? I could easily see Almalexia torturing to that extent... just as I could almost as easily see Sotha Sil replacing his fleshform appendages with mechanical substitutes...

Hard to say for sure though...

For some reason I always believed that he lost his limbs fighting against Dagoth Ur when they lost the Kragnec tools. After Vivec saved them he choose not to let them return and instead tried to create himself anew and more powerful. Personally I think thats all Sotha Sil still cared about after the lose of the Kragnec tools. Destroying Dagoth Ur.

He created Imperfects and machines that could surpass the Dwemer machines, surely that would be useful in an army. Almalexia also said he talked about returning to the old religions. IMO all he cared about was destroying Dagoth Ur, and he would go through any lenghts including the mutilation of his own body to achieve it.

I am just going to say this to you before anyone else does it in a less pleasant way. Sotha Sil is dead and there is no way around it. People have posted countless theories about how he could have survived, but believe me, everyone knows and the devs have confirmed more than once that Seht is no more. I am just saying this before you are flamed at by people that are less understanding.

I have a theory that he used his mighty powers to see the future, saw the Oblivion script, and decided to die at the first possible opportunity.

But that's just me.

Another possibility for Sotha Sil's wounds: I think Vivec rescued him long ago when Sotha Sil's House was destroyed; Sil was the only survivor. Maybe he was injured that long ago.

Gotta say, given the circumstances, I might make the same decision...

Im quite sure that he lost his legs awhile ago. Lots of historic texts say so.

Also the painting things of him. In the temple.

Yeah, why didnt Sotha Sil do anything, when Almelexia was torturing him? Was he already dead, or was it a decoy, which I can understand.
