Soul Sizes

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:57 am

So I finished up the The Black Star and got Azura's Star (wanted a mage follower)

But I have no clue what, besides mammoths, fills a Grand Soul Gem. Honestly I can't kill a mammoth half the time unless there is a bridge nearby, they keep taking out most my health with a single hit.

Kite the mammoths, that's the best way to defeat them if you aren't a straight-up melee combatant. I easily handled one at about level 10 on my mage with superior kiting tactics.

I think giants have Grand souls. Dragons (if they can even be soul trapped, lol) might have Grand souls. Maybe Frost Trolls.

Dragons keep resisting my soul trap.

But then again, aren't you absorbing the dragon's soul upon death?

Dragon Priests, Draugr Overlords/Death Overlords and NPCs all have grand soul sizes (AFAIK), though, you'd need a black soul gem for NPCs.

Yah I'm running into this problem too. I want to start enchanting my own crafted armor with the best gems but I cant find any faqs lists of creature / mobs soul gem sizes and for the life of me cannot find a mob that actually fills a grand gem. Most are one grade below what I'd think they would be. I kill a frost troll and think oh thats prolly common nope it fills lesser ect ect.

That's very evil! Black soul gems are trapping human souls. Only evil daedra would do that.

There were these ghosts I killed before, filled grand soul gems I happened to have. They were in some cave on a thieves guild quest, sorry can't remember which :S

Also, if you wanted a mage follower theres a dude in The Bee and Barb in Riften.

1: No the best way to kill them is to hide under a bridge, they can't reach you and you don't have to do anything but pump them full of feathers. Although I sometimes have mudcrab problem

2: Giants have a greater soul

My azure star never captures souls. I can fill a gem however. Should I sell it?

Funnily enough, I couldn't trap the souls of the dremoras in that Daedric shrine quest that gives you a certain dagger. Neither those outside or those inside the shrine.
Had every time of empty soul gems from petty to grand.

How did I fill all those grand soul gems after a trip of giant & mammoth hunting?

But if you soultrap a necromancer its poetic justice :)

I once stumbled into a dungeon, well I wont spoil, but the boss man there had been making a habit of luring people and turning them into his undead slaves after a lot of torture.
It felt good to soultrap him.
The soulgem with him in it now rattles around in one of my cupboards like he is some sort of half used pencil.
Serves him right.

Edit: to canneddogmeat:
Only if you want to forever lose a unique item.
