Sould there be a DLC in Centralia, Pennsylvania?

Post » Mon Dec 21, 2009 9:50 am

Centralia, Pennsylvania is frequently called the "real life silent hill" because of all the smoke in the town due to an underground coal fire (plus it was the inspiration for the silent hill movie). Personally, I think it would be amazing to have FO visit it in a DLC (esp. if you had a mission that forced you to go into parts of the mine, not that that is even remotely possible in real life), as long as there was no reference/relation to silent hill (I.E. an original story. I just like the Idea of wondering around a ghost type town w/ a few struggling survivors, and fighting horribly mutated monsters in a huge cave/mine where the walls are on fire!). I also think i'd be cool to see ghouls rising out of the graves in the town (though this could work in any FO location). Just to clarify, this has NOTHING TO DO WITH SILENT HILL. The town is creepy and (ignoring the fact that nukes would have obliterated a crumbling town) it would severe as a great location for a FO DLC. I think it would also be a great place to introduce some new monsters (esp. fire themed ones, or a new breed of deathclaws unique to that area). So what does everyone else think (hopefully it won't be as horribly negative as some of my other ideas)?

As a native Pennsylvanian I can assure you that there is nothing interesting in Centralia Pennsylvania.

Not to mention that it's clear across the country. Why would the courier be traveling that far anyway.

Why would a LV courier be in Central PA?

I think Dead Money's Villa is enough claustrophobic scary town for one game.

That's a ludicrous distance, even for Fallout 1/2 which covered quite a bit of area. So no.

I'm also from PA, and I find it extremely interesting. It's the prefect setting for a horror story/movie/game. As for distance, I didn't really think about that. Perhaps a future FO title (esp. since I have a strong feeling 4 will be in NYC)?

I think NYC is more likely, but if not then commonwealth. I think there are more people that want NYC though. If Im not mistaken though, they aren't all that far from each other, so there could be a train or something that you could get on to go from one to another. If they don't do both (or cover one with DLC), FO5 should do the other. They both deserve to be in a full game.

No there should not be a DLC in Centralia, Pennsylvania. Its thousands of miles from Las Vegas. Its not going to happen.

Absolutely not. There will be more games in the series no need to jump from Vegas to Pennsylvania.

The war probably ignited dozens of coal mine fires in the Fallout setting; I agree it might be neat to see one, though not as an excuse to ape Silent Hill. But there's no reason to go to Pennsylvania.
Centralia is unusual now, in 2011 real life, but it would be nothing special in the Fallout universe. I agree it's a fascinating place (well, the history is; don't know about the actual town), but there's no reason to think it would be special enough in the FU to warrant an entire DLC.
Sorry to be a killjoy.
