Soultrapping Daedra

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:25 pm

I know that daedra cannot truly "die", instead they get banished back to their plane of oblivion.

But what happens if you Soul Trap them? Do they still get banished, or are they now trapped in the soul gem?

The second one. If you soul trap them then their soul (which would normally go back to Oblivion) gets trapped in the soul gem until either the soul gem breaks or the soul is transferred to an item for enchantment.

What about using the soul to recharge an enchanted item. Would the energy of the soul be used and the soul then sent to Oblivion? Or would the soul still be permanently entrapped in some way with the item?

Recharging is probably just using the spirit's energy, then it's taken back to where it should have been going all along. However, in DF, when you enchanted a weapon with a soul trapped being, and the weapon breaks, the thing you trapped breaks free and (of course) attacks you.

According to Clavicus Vile, Umbra contains the soul of a person named Umbra. Likewise, the Staff of Hasedoki supposedly contains the soul of Hasedoki, even after all this time.

I believe the essential power of the artifact is sustained by the original soul, and subsequent, often lesser souls are used to recharge its abilities.

Umbra is still in the sword even when the charge is Zero, but it hungers for more souls to continue its vampiric nature of soul eating.

So, the soul in the artifact is being recharged by the subsequent souls?

So, if its possible for a soul in an artifact to be powered up like that, would it be possible to "power up" the soul of a living person?

Perhaps that's why Mannimarco wanted to acquire Traven's soul.
