Soulution to the crashes

Post » Fri Mar 12, 2010 7:50 am

I tried something new today, I deleted files on my PS3 HDD. Got about 13 GB free space now. I have played the game for 6 hours now, and it haven't freezed at all. I had about 2.5 GB free earlier, and I had big problems with the freezing all the time in the game. It seems this game needs som free place on the HDD to play without freezing. I hav had a few hicups, that lasted about 1-2 seconds. Maybe this is the solution.

Try and see. Please send feedback in this topic. I will update after a few days, to let you know how it's going.

Edit: I meant Freezes

I will try this out on Fallout 3 later to. It never crossed my mind. My HDD has always been pretty full.

Maybe the PS3 is using pagefile like windows? I don't know, I only know that it helped alot.

You may actually be on to something. I have had only a very few problems with New Vegas on my PS3, and I am not a downloader. My hard drive on my PS3 is over half empty. I'm wondering if the folks having problems also have full drives.

I've got over 100GB free space and I'm experiencing virtually every known problem.

It seems like this can work for some, but there are others that have problems even though they have much free place on the HDD. It's strange, I am playing the same save file as before, but I don't have any freezes anymore. Atleast not yet.

i think it all depends on the brand and type of HDD that you have, i did the same thing yesterday cause i can't hack terminals that are set on top of desks, i can hack wall mounted though. but i deleted all the installed files for the game and like 20 saves i had and i even went to the extent of trading my game disk in for a new disk and the problem still exists!!!! i'm not sure why my specific PS3 creates the same glitch regardless.

I've got an 80GB with about 50GB free and I freeze twice an hour on average, I don't think free space is the issue here.

What seemed to help the freezing for me was turning in those damned Star Bottle Caps. Apparently each one has a script on it so it turns into a normal cap after you complete the quest to find 50. It makes the entire game lag and crash the more you get. Once I completed that quest it almost completely stopped crashing.

Lots of free space now, however after the 1.01 patch installed
the other day I can't play for 30 minutes without a forced system
reboot...

I'm taking this... cough.. back to gamestop and trading it for a different
game that actually works...

the only reason I have not returned the game yet, is I'm not sure that would cost gamesas any money. Do they really have to pay the game vendors any money for each game that is returned? or do the vendors just have to eat the money?

I've just tried this and, have to admit, had no freezing issues on my last session.

320GB HDD, but had about 30+ Fallout saves. Deleted most of them and left about 6. No freezing thus far!
