Sound in Brink

Post » Mon May 09, 2011 6:38 pm

Being a competitive cod player i rely heavily on sound to give away enemy positions and keep myself alive so i was quite excited to hear about the advancements in sound that brink is bringing to the table. Different footstep sounds for each body type , different firing sounds for hip fire and iron sights, 3 different sound ranges for players around you, gun audio recorded from scratch, and the ability to combine all the sounds without 1 overpowering another. Thanks SD for thinkin of everything.

What does everyone else think about the amazing sound?

Very nice little details. Adds a lot of charm, and I hope it will cause players to walk from time to time to sneak around.

On terms of cover-up sound. It's actually has pretty good synergy in terms of distractions of an unaware opponent, a targeting enemy is usually too focused on the battle ahead, another reason not to look down a choke point for minutes on end.

I didn't know that sound can look good.

Agreed, though. The sound in BRINK could be amazing. The question is, if Splash Damage were only talking or actually doing what they said in a way that the player will really notice it.
I like that not only bodytypes have different moving-sounds, but also the clothing you wear determines how your character sounds while moving.

That is awesome. I guess that is sort of like the sneaking in Oblivion 'Depends on how heavy your boots are and how high your sneak skill is. (Even Though that the boot thing didn't even really matter)
