I have a Realtek audio in my laptop, but can't find "Loudness Equalization" in the option. Anyone know if all Realtek have this option?

Same problem here with Realtek HD. Everything is very low, excepted spell casting.

Hi,
We are on jaunary 6th.
The Low volume issue isn't fix 2 month after the release.

When will you fix that ???

P6T, Realtek HD sound driver and Logitech Z623 "2.1".

I've a partial fix, in the Realtek menu, I set "Stéréo" to "5.1" disabling center, and back speakers.
The sound is less low but the voices are too quiet because I've not the center speaker of a 5.1 with my 2.1 Z623.

Please, fix that, I'll wait "ever and ever forever" (dedication to GLaDOS (lol)) for that fix to begin the marvellous Skyrim.

I tried the sound fix and had issues:
no sound in lockpick mini game
and very low level voices when facing an NPC, the sound was better if turning 90 degress away from the NPC.

And what speaker setup are you using?

Where would you rate the importance of this bug compared to crashes, incompletable quests, quest oddities, journal bugs or items not being removed from inventories?

Personnaly, I can't play with a low or unbalanced sound. The TES music is so beautiful that I don't want to do concession.

If you use headphones? Pretty high actually...anything audio that is nerfed is pretty much game-breaking for me. So, assuming the question was being asked in good faith:

Lower than crashes. Higher than the rest you list.

I have this issue too. Don't have realtek. I play with headphones on a laptop, with a soundmax driver/card if that has anything to with it. I don't have any surround options either. So unless my sound card, driver, whatever it is (I'm not too great with tech stuff), has something to do with it, and isn't supported by skyrim, I too would like to see this fixed. I have to play with volume on max just to hear anything in game. Nothing else does this for me. Just skyrim. Everything else is loud as it should be because its maxed, but not skyrim.

I can`t set my speakers to 5.1 here is the screenshot:

Any idea?

Made an account to post specifically about this.

I'm having the EXACT same issue here with the box being grayed out. The menu just does not give me an option to change the speaker configuration to anything other than "Stereo".
This is driving me nuts, I really hope someone can find a way around this.
I don't even have the option of buying a new sound card because I'm on a Mac that's dual-booted to Windows 7.

Try updating your sound drivers. It adds new stuff to these menus.

Have you tried setting it to 5.1 in the windows audio control panel, not Realtek?

There is a guide to doing this in my sig.

If you got a laptop, you most likely don't get the option there either.

Let's face it folks. It's not the Realtek drivers really. Oblivion/Fallout 3 working just fine without fiddling with any sound settings. It's Skyrim audio coding or whatever. Bethesda must fix this sometime, it should be like priority.

Yes it's Skyrim. I've never ever had trouble with sound in games before on my computer. Got the newest drivers also.

Gstaff emailed me before asking about this problem and asked me to post my sound information of my computer. So they're definitely aware of the problem. I think we just have to wait. 2 months though is a pretty long wait just to get something as fundemental as acceptable sound volume.

This is all I can find in my computer and I don't have the same settings.
What should I do? The voices and music in-game are working but there's no footsteps or ambient sounds.

Help.

For those of you with this version of Realtek software (likely through your motherboard manufacturer, Asus/Gigabyte etc.) click on the Audio I/O tab and click on the 'wrench' icon beside the Digital heading and you can change your output sample rate that way. I've included this screen grab for further clarification:

Hope that helps some of you.

Oh that is one thing that is for sure. I mean, I don't have Realtek drivers since I have a ATI soundchip and I also get waaaaay to low sounds in Skyrim.
It's just of the many many bugs that are in Skyrim :(
And no offence, but titles like "Fix for low volume ..." like the OP has ... those are not fixes. Bethesda is indeed the only one who can fix this.

To add to this, depending on your motherboard, there is a better option to emulate surround sound for headphones using DTS. There will be a 4th tab in the Realtek menu called "DTS UltraPC". It does a pretty good job, and also lets you boost bass and voice.
