Sounds of the Dwemer ruins

I had a interesting experience today walking past a railway station. I heard some very familiar sounds, and actually turned around to check it out. It is a pretty small railway station so it wasn't too much hassle. I couldn't understand where I had heard this sound before. A freight train was standing still at one of the tracks, but it sounded like the "engine" was running. A mechanical sound like a shaft going around and around. "clonk, clonk, clock". And in between the sound of pressure released. Then I remembered: it was almost identical to the mechanical sounds from the dwemer ruins and the pressure sounds. I wonder if Mark Lampert, the sound director in Skyrim visited a railway station to get that particurlar sound. I know he brings his recording device everywhere in case he hears an interesting sound. Btw I have a lot of respect for Mark Lampart, decent guy and extremely talented.

A very peculiar situation. What do you guys think this sound is coming from?
Maybe Gstaff can ask Lampert on my behalf? :)
