I think it is a great program, and I am glad that the Russians can do it first.

Perhaps this will take a bite out of the publicity of the American space program.

Doubtful. Last I heard, the American space program's own shark project was progressing swimmingly.

Russia sent the first dog, they must now send the first shark.
Please, it will make it that much easier to remember in history classes 10 years from now.

Sound stupid, but if we're to ever put animals into space that lack higher cognitive skills, if nothing else we can study the effect of vertical acceleration and weightlessness on animals in space.

Space launches are physically traumatic. Most humans wouldn't be fit for a space launch.

Japan should hurry with that mammoth and give us dinosaurs. Imagine that, Japanese dinosaur ninjas riding Russian astro sharks!

When I first saw the thread title, I thought it was the name of a B movie, but since it's not, I guess that means the title is still open for use...

But on the subject of the shark, at first, I was questioning what sort of purpose sending a shark into space could have, then I remembered what day it is.

Just as long as they don't mix any shark DNA into space dolphin DNA. Otherwise there'll be a mutiny in an alien ocean, which will hinder their mission to return to Earth with the priceless information they acquired!

You're welcome, my dear client.

Eh, I think they've jumped the shark.

Nah, this is Hammerhead. Jump the Shark is their overarching FTL program.

Operation: Flying Fish: When Sharks Fly, You die.

As a mater of fact, they have Frikin Laser Beams conveniently located on the top of their heads. Or they would have if we had the budget. We had to settle for... something else aquatic.
