Spamming skills

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:38 pm

I'm wondering if fallout 4 will work in the same way as skyrim did where you could spam all your skills to max them out and in doing so speed up you're overall character level progression.

I'm all for being able to do such a thing so that you have the freedom to play the game the way you want with the particular skills that you will use in a regular basis.

So what's your thoughts on this. Would you prefer the game to slowly level up your skills over time? or do you want the freedom to max them out in a few hours?

You're aware skill's are no longer a thing in Fallout 4 right?

They've been replaced with a perk-based system

Not to mention, Fallout has never done the "use it to improve it" method.

So the more you use a certain skill like sneaking in fallout 4 you won't improve your sneak ability?

Nope, so far it looks like sneak is based on your Agility stat, in general stats and perks is how characters is defined this time, at least that is the impression we gotten from E3.

In Fallout, skills do not automatically improve through use. You can't raise them by spamming them. Instead, you are granted various quantities of experience points for the things you accomplish. You get experience points for killing things. You get experience points for finishing quests. You get experience points for assorted other things. Once you have accumulated a certain number of points, you gain a level.

Before Fallout 4, gaining a level earns you a certain number of skill points that you can distribute among your various skills as you see fit. Gaining levels also earns you perks.

In Fallout 4, it appears that gaining a level only earns you a perk. You can choose a perk that raises your level in a skill, or you can choose a perk that does something else. We have to wait for further word from Bethesda to know if this is really how things will work.
