Face the fact that games are made for consoles nowadays.
Console gamers outnumber pc gamers and guess what... Crytek is a company... a company needs to make money in order to survive, to continue what they are doing... The gaming bussiness isn't a charity program... That's economics 101 for ya...
I think it's just a normal evolution that companies are trying to please the console market first...
Omg sorry but this is an attitude I really hate seeing, almost as much as the stupid beginning of this thread.
Have you ever heard of something being created out of love for it in itself and the reward of customers being overjoyed about the product, before thoughts go to how much money can we get?
Because game development is a hugely creative industry, so the best devs are inspired to make games that they would love to play, to bring something amazing and special to players. Good game companies don't start out with a stupid business money earning structure in mind, they start out to make something they think will be unique and awesome, and hope the fans will enjoy for ages.
Not saying no one at Crytek put their heart into Crysis 2, it just seems that there was less than before, so I hope they can keep working to turn that around again.
If consoles are always bringing cheaper and crappier standards to gaming, that's not evolution, that's devolution. Imagine a big company shunning that and just creating the game the way they think is right, that's how a shift starts, and I would bet they make as much or more money without even putting it first.
