Spears, and armor

Am i the only one who thinks one the coolest things that could be in Skyrim is spears? Or if there was a light, medium and heavy armor for every type of armor?

Why do people go on about spears so much? I don't get it.

Sure, having them as an option would be kind've cool if they're done right... but honestly... they're hardly going to add a massive amount to the overall gaming experience. People go on about them like it's one of the best things that could possibly be in the game.

Sheo, your statement can be applied the same way if Bows and arrows were removed, or Shields, or Unarmed hand to hand combat, or magick, or horses, or enchantments...etc etc etc...

see the problem here?

No. Spears are not needed in the game. Too much work for such a little thing that no one will ever use. Spears aren't going to be in. And I'm happy with Bethesda's decision.:ahhh:

I view all of the above to be far more important, but I suppose you're right... for someone who really has their heart set on using a spear as their main weapon throughout the entire game, it would svck for them to be excluded. I know i'd be annoyed if either bows or swords were excluded for whatever bizarre reason.

If you're playing on the PC, you can easily mod armor to be light or heavy.

And who are you to say no one will use blunt weapons? But I guess you're right. A small portion of Skyrim's players will use spears as their main weapon. It's just...it's not worth the time and money that Bethesda has.

I can Defiantly Confirm that there will be no spears in skyrim, in a podcast interview with todd on gameinformer a fan asked weather spears were in the game, and he said that they weren't.

A small portion of Skyrim's players

I beg to differ. There are a lot of us.

Also, all this talk about it being confirmed that there is no spears... How are Bethesda supposed to know if the fanbase doesn't agree with a decision they make if we don't say anything? They may change certain aspects if they feel they should.

Because Players Bickering Blabbering and general incoherentness and conflictions don't translate well into Gameplay features, alot of complaints from Morrowind went into Oblivion and got even more Crap

THE GAME WAS EASY AFTER LEVEL 20!

Once I start Morrowind I got directly to this ruin and get OP weapon and Armor because its always there!

Theres no challange!

--- Oblivion level Scaling

Enchanting is OP I overenchanted all my weapons and armor completely under my own power and thoughts and now the game is boring!

--Enchantment threshold, no more armor peices

Spears are OP I spam them all the time because it makes life easy but nothing is a challange anymore!

-- Spears are gone

OMG I hate walking everywhere! I just want to get to where Im going and thats it

-- Fast Travel with no alternative options

Are we sure there won't be light medium and heavy armor? We won't specialize in it (no skill relating to it) but even FNV had light/medium/heavy. It also had perks that related to wearing those types of armor.

I'm not convinced they won' be in, but I haven't been keeping up with info recently. Maybe they confirmed no l/m/h armor.

If they added guns I would probably use them. Spears are not blunt weapons so I probably would not have any use for them (GURKOG SMASH!!!!).

maybe it has been stated, but I'll add it's been confirmed that Spears will not be in the game. At the very least there is a high probability that it will not according to the game informer Todd Howard interview.

That's a funny statement right there. This one of the most popular subjects on here besides "OMG they removed attributes *cry*".

Even if that wasn't the case, you honestly think this?

Hi guys,

Just wanted to add my 2 cent to the topic, personally I think spears can work very well, we can think of it this way, it is a weapon with a far different mechanic than lets say a sword or an axe, one of the attributes is that it has reach.

With how the skills are set out now, with the perks you could unlock abilities for the spear like, polearm push, just imagine a bandit charging towards you like a madman, you brace yourself with your spear and as soon as he gets within range, you thrust, he goes flying backwards, that would be freakin awesome.

or the new perks could unlock the ability to perform trip attacks with your spear, since it is a weapon with reach you wouldn't need to get to close to your target, aim for his legs trip him, and follow up by stabbing him while he drops prone.

these are just some of the reason I can think of for spears to work in this game, and maybe it could add more dynamic to combat. that is my opinion though.

as for medium armor.... I can see why they would not make a return, because in terms of mechanic, they are sort of same with heavy armor, albeit it is lighter, but you can't sneak effectively in it, nor does it provide as much protection as heavier armor, so there really isn't much point.
