Spears included in Tytanis's The Ultimate Mod

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:50 pm

I figured this was significant enough to be announced, since the community knows how partial some of us are to spears.
I haven't tested them though, but that mod is pro from the start any ways.

I just hope their animations are on the more realistic fighting moves than something out of some anime. Though to be fair I have seen some good spear usage in anime.

They propably just use existing two-handed weapon animations. Didn't really work in Oblivion mods (i don't think a spear is an effective slashing weapon :hehe:).

I'm sure that, with the level of pro that is this mod, they will be effectively using a proper animation by mid to late January.

Were such animations ever made for Oblivion? I never saw such.

However completely new weapon holding, firing and reloading animations were created for New Vegas, so it certainly is possible.

We'll be seeing some amazing things with Skyrim mods; I'm certain of it.

Is that mod.... modular. There's a lot of stuff I don't want in my game like crafting spell tomes and the like.

Not sure if there's a way to get around that.

Just tested the spear and I'm not sure what animation it is using, but it looks pretty believable on my forsworn wearing crazy woman in third person. I don't really care for it in first person though, but third looks good.

Is this both 1H spears and larger polearms, or just a single variety? Going Spear and Shield actually interests me, but at the same time, like with the other weapons, a 2H counterpart sounds nice as well.

Like classes, attributes and basic mathematics: spears are just too "spreadsheety".

...Except that historically, spears have been a favored weapons of armies. Despite popular belief, the sword wasn't the king of weapons - it was the spear. Think less spreadsheets and more truth in television.

Re-read what I said with a snarky voice then reevaluate your response. That should probably go for all my posts.

Bethesda should seriously consider hiring these modders. They seem more competent than the developers themselves :P

Right now there is a spear & a pike. I'm assuming the pike is 2 handed, because it requires more materials and is called a pike. I crafted the spear and it is one handed.

Just had a read of this, I like the fact there are more powerful foods been added into the game. I think bethesda really failed with the cooking, its a nice feature but they just included terrible benefits.

This mod is definitely going places. Just look at the WIP section of it. Yes there are somethings I don't care for, but it seems like less and less with each update, and it's updated daily.

Even if the mod isn't modular, once the CK comes out you can download it for the meshes, textures, and animations and just craft your own minimalist mod using the pieces.

Can anyone give a vid, or even just pictures of the spears? Out of so many people who have downloaded this I'm surprised I can't see it. Also the dual wielding two handed weapons thing just doesn't work for me.

They were easy to miss under the deluge of T&A mods. CCAO or MAO basically worked to give them unique animations. Still, I'd much prefer them as their own shindig.

As to the original topic, yay, when the time comes that I can, I will enjoy pulling this mod apart to give me spears with no other additions. It's precisely why I'm waiting till the CK comes out to consider purchasing Skyrim.
