I was wondering if anyone had any clue whether or not spears were returning. It would make sense because Gaelic, Celtic, Pictish, Norse, ect cultures used spears as the most prominant weapon in warfare and a lot of the inspiration for Skyrim is supposed to be from that era...kinda seems like it would be missing something without it IMO. What do ya'll think?

We don't really know. There are some spear-like weapons (although more similar to long-handled axes) in the concept art, so there's a good chance.

its possible. NV had pretty good throwing spears. I think they cut spears from OB because they would need their own animation separate from the one or two handed swing that was used for every other melee weapons. no specific weapons have been confirmed yet.

there are already many threads discussing spears. and in the art video. there is an outline in some concept art that looks like a long staff with a blade. that uses the same mechanics as a spear so im guessing there will be spears.

We've seen some concept art, but thats just concept art...
I don't really understand why people wouldn't want spears, if you don't want them don't use them...

thats not specific is it. and as far as I know those haven't been officially confirmed... but do they need to be. their not cutting swords and bows, that would be utterly insane.

They have been officially confirmed, actually. Even if they weren't... well, I don't think they'll be removing swords any time soon.

That must be a very large spear indeed. It does not take much effort to polish a standard sized spear...

I said this in another thread about the concept art leaking their return because who would draw the spears etc when the designers are like "oh no were not having spears in the game, just make some fancy drawings" but it would be so deceiving if they wern't in the game yet they are all over the concept art. I myself never used spears with my characters in morrowind but I did give them a try

There will be swords, the kind that consist of a blade attached to a handle. There will also be bows, the kind that are made out of wood (or metal, unrealistic lolz) and string.

I'd like to see spears, but the weapons that they already have should be fine. It'll be nice to be able to dual wield weapons though. It just adds a whole new element to combat.

not really. every post contributes towards the 10-page limit, meaning that the more we post "we've had this thread a million times i think bethesda gets the point and none of you are putting any new ideas forth so really you can STOP REPOSTING IT NOW.", the closer to getting locked every thread is.

this is my +1, for instance. we really, really don't need any more of these threads.
