Spec ops vs Psycho and lots of questions

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:03 pm

so i really need help deciding between pre-ordering the psycho pack or the spec ops pack.
which one would you get?
and i have lots of questions.
the mask in spec ops and the psycho pack seem to be for one side
"the grin" face mask being for the rebels
and the "sloani" face mask being for the security
will it be that way or will it be for both teams?
also will the pre-order items be available to unlock in game or is it pre order exclusive?
and will there be a collectors edition or something because i would get that the minute it is announced

it looks like the clothes are one sided, for now at least.

The game is still quite far off and this is their first pre purchase announcement and its only for North America from what I've read. So in my opinion, don't pre purchase it just yet, there may very well be a collector's edition and who knows, maybe some even more awesome stuff (eg clothes for both sides) would be included in the pre purchase extras.

As far as I've heard the Psycho and Spec Ops packs are focused around a particular faction while the Doom and Fallout packs work for both.
No one knows for sure if they'll be available for later purchase/unlock however given the purpose of the packs is that they'll serve as legacy items, showing how much of a veteran you are, I'd say it's unlikely they'll be available later.

No news I've heard on a collector's edition, keep that SD isn't necessarily running a huge enterprise here. It's not like we're talking about Halol Reach here. Don't automatically expect SD to be commissioning 10,000 models of a resistance character doing a slide or something.

I'm going with Spec Ops, security is awesome and I'm becoming a bit of a steam really devoted fan. Plus per-ordering from a retailer in Aus would result in some $40 being added to the price.

Edit*
Why do so many game forums auto-censor the word "BOYs of the FAN". Otherwise known as hammer legion members on the steam forums.

True Bethesda is a large company but Bethesda is just the publishers, splash damage is the ones making this game and they are pretty small....though since i don't know much about game developing and publishing i am assuming the developers are the ones that are the ones that make the decision about having a collectors edition..but i maybe wrong

Ask yourself which faction you like more and get pack for them, i liek security more, so i want more clothing options for them. Sloani face mask for the win.

It all depends on your choice of sides... pick one, and then a complementary pre-order pack.
As for a collector's edition... we can only pray.

I'm not planning on preordering, but if I did i'd get the spec ops, that MP7 looks badass.
