[REQ] Special and unique armor resource

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:30 am

I am looking for someone who is skilled in making armor meshes and textures for a suit of armor that is in my head...I am trying to draw it, but my artistic skills severely lack in this area...

What I am looking for is a suite of light armor, that looks like Daedric armor, but not so spikey. It should basically look like hard leather with some plating, not too much, with the dragon emblem on the chest. I would like it in shades of dark blue and black, with a black cape and hood. The cuirass (with cape), gauntlets, greaves and boots are all I need. I can do the hood (all that's required is getting the .nif and texture file for it.)

This is definitely a TALL order, and I may end up learning how to model (bastardizing several suite along the way) and maybe learning enough about texturing to give me an end product I am looking for.) before someone may be able to fulfill this request. OR if there is a site dedicated to Oblivion mesh and texture resources where something like this may already be done. OR if someone here already has something like this and believe it to fit the bill, kindly give permission for me to use it :D

I hope I didn't cross any lines I'm not supposed to (and barf on it on my way)

I have an imagination, but mine will always be different from yours. When you say light, do you mean just in terms of classification, or actually close-fitting and such? http://www.faqs4games.com/images/thumb/4/4e/Full-Thief-Armor.png/224px-Full-Thief-Armor.png is light by classification, but doesn't really conform to the body that much. http://www.oblivioninfo.de.external.v.vkachalka.ru/images/r/r_darkb.jpg is both light by classification and looks. Also, what part of daedric do you want it to keep? Without spikes and heavy armor classification, that just leaves the color scheme in my mind, which you wish to change as well. A picture of what might resemble your idea would really be best. If you can do that, someone like myself might attempt to fulfill your request.

I know I know :banghead: I knew I was not able to verbally articulate what I am looking for.

More of some ideas:

It sometimes urks me to see mages wearing stiff plates of armor in a heavy class. I am used to the old DnD rules that kept magic users from using ANY armor. Then, as I grew up, I have found that some fantasy games/novels/movies/cartoons/etc showed magic users wearing something slose to a leathery, almost form fitting, plated scheme. The leather to help form to the body, and plates in different places to reduce the chance of arrow penetration or help weapons glance off the body. I have a hard time seeing a battle play out with a front line or back line of mages, gesturing and using articulation to form their spells when the plates are obviously either rubbing up on each other and restricting movement, or feel stifling. A magic-user should not feel claustrophobic while concentrating on his/her magic.

I hope that helps a bit, but the Shrouded armor is a good step in the right direction. I'm currently trolling through Google images to see if I can find anything that will help show what I am looking for.

ooh, ooh, ooh, I think I found something!

This something close to it. The robe portion of the armor should be open in the front and back... and maybe some band on the arms to the elbows, with the material of the sleeves kind higging the arms more.
Does this help??? The should ridges are actually perfect. I'll load it up right away in Photoshop and doctor-up one of the images.

More info on what will help make this come true.

I love the 'battlemage' class. Getting very generic here, but a competent spellcaster, who can carry his own weight, maybe with a sword, single handed and no shield. Quick on foot, dexterous, but highly intelligent and willfull. his ability with a blade could also be something feared since you'd never know if it's enchanted or not. I have been playing this type of class in almost everything and have done well for myself. Able to cast healing spells if no potions were around, or fling fireballs at an enemy as said enemy adnvaces.

This will be a special set of armor for such a class of warrior who was a childhood friend to Tiber Spetim and has lived a LONG time. Without giving away too much before I get my mod rolling, He is somewhat immortal and has mastered magic, and has been on the front line and by his Emperor's side in many engagements.
