my PC specs vs PS3 for skyrim

Post » Mon Aug 01, 2011 4:11 am

hey all,
Just wondering what you all think.
My computer is not a beast, its adaquate, but for playing skyrim which do you think would run it better, my comp or PS3?
Computer specs are: core2duo e8400 (3ghz), 4gigs of ram, vista OS, geforce 8800GT(256bit mem interface, 512 ram)

I'd like to get it for the PC just for mods and the like, BUT, im thinking my PS3 will probably run it better since there is no way i'll be able to run it at full force on my PC.

I got the same thing as you but with win7 and a 9800gt and i will be playing this game just fine. not maxed out and i know it, but i plan on doing medium-high.

get it on PC.

EDIT: i played New Vegas on high settings, fallout 3 mixed between high and highest and Oblivion maxed.

medium at the least with that card my old 9600 could run Fallout 3 and Oblivion on high (with 4xaa) fine Skyrim would prolly be the same. So ya PC is the best choice

Don't forget that Oblivion is a game from 2006, NV and Fallout are using the same old engine...
You shouldn't be able to play on high settings (don't expect good framerate anyway).

dont forget that this game was made with consoles in the head which means that almost any gaming pc can run it.

PC, you shouldn't have any issues with moderate-high settings (which will still be better than what the consoles are outputting).

Indeed with consoles holding back progression I haven't needed to upgrade for eons.

PC and if you can't take the slight lag (if there is any) or want higher settings a video card upgrade wouldn't cost you that much. I'd bet by the time it's out you can very cheaply upgrade that. The rest of your computer is not bad.

PC. You can probably run at least on medium settings. Plus you get all the benefits of the PC version.

You should ask your question here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1215172-unofficial-will-my-pc-run-skyrim-thread-6/page__st__140 And include your GPU information.

A power supply that can handle a 8800GT should handle GTX 550Ti and it is a cheap enough upgrade.

It would likely handle a HD6850 too.
