Speculate here the next Beta event weekend

Post » Mon Feb 17, 2014 3:40 am

Hey guys,

Apologies if there was already a topic created like this.

I played the last 2 beta's and both times moderators of the beta forums hinted towards more beta events before the launch.

Now the beta I was in first was:

From Friday, January 10th at 6:00PM EST
Until Sunday, January 12th at 11:59PM EST
And the second:
From Friday, February 7th at 12:00PM EST
Until Monday, February 10th at 11:59PM EST
Taken in account all the data they gathered has to be worked out -> bugs polished etc.
Do you think it's plausible that the next beta is:
From Friday, March 7th
Until Monday, March 10th
What do you think?

If there's another beta, it will more than likely be an open one a couple of weeks prior to release. Giving that early access begins on the 29th of March, I'd guess a week later than your estimate (~14th March).

Mod's hinted really strong on this, but what makes you think it would be an open beta?

there isnt going to be an open beta, and even though they claimed to have more betas in the works until they get it together they would be better served not having any more betas at all.

I think most people have made their minds up on whether theyre going to buy the game or not. ''The ONLY positive they could get from another beta is if they had one that was basically release quality (well beyond release quality) and not have any bugs, performance issues, or glaring 'problems'.

Since that is unlikely to happen they would be better off just letting peope stew for the last 5 weeks.

As wiz12268 said, https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/737/kw/. The link also strongly suggests (practically confirms) that there will be more beta's.

As much as I want to play the game NOW, I do agree with you.

I think you are right. Also, it is 6+ weeks to early access, not that I'm counting or anything.

One or two more beta weekends will likely come and I do think they are needed as well if they want to ensure a good, smooth launch.

I'd specualte that we see another beta weekend towards end of February and possibly another towards mid of March.

Keep in mind the mods here have no affiliation with ZOS or Bethesda. They are just members like you and me

There is a caveat to what I mentioned above. If they make it so that people can access all the maps (whether theyre on level or not) just to see what is going on with them. And maybe one with the Imperial race added for everyone to see and play. As well as the ability to have a 'premade' max level character with adequate skill points and weapons/gear to put into cyrodiil. Running around now might be fun and all but it isnt exposing any glaring problems that will most definitely arise once people get enough levels and skill points. At level 21 graded up to 50 (without the number of level 50 points you would have) isnt really doing anything. It just means that a level 10 isnt THAT much weaker than you in the grand scheme. But I really want to see fif some nooblet rank 10 right into Cyrodill has any chance at all against a level 50 with even modest gear and skill points attributed around. I know they claim they can be but I simply do not believe it.

But these are things people can actually see and test for themselves. I doubt either of those scenarios is likely so thats why I didnt really mention them before. But it would be a couple other reasons to have another beta or two.

Betting on 1 more, and though i know I am buying the game I have a friend who is not sure. If he gets a key and then gets a taste I am sure he will be there beside me on the launch. So at least 1 more beta would help in that regard.

I would like to see more betas because I want to see if the common issues that people were having last beta are being addressed.

I think they will do like FF did and have one more with the content cap raised to 30. It would be nice to be able to even see the next area, it feels like we have done the 1-15 area to death.

If they had one on march 7 through the 10th and then we roll into EA, dont really see them having anything longer then just a weekend run but we could hope lol.

Since there will not be a traditional open beta, I do think that there will be a massive closed beta couple weeks before early access.

It depends on how long it takes them to implement any changes they want to make from last beta. My guess is they have a pretty good hit list of bugs that are being fixed before release, and coming betas will mainly serve as stress tests of network and server systems.

My guess is one pseudo open beta in late Feb, to put any changes/upgrades in servers and networking to the test, and then another in mid March with a nearly release ready client with major quest bugs and such fixed. That beta will serve as hype generation, and one final stress test.

I could be wrong, but thats how I'd do it.

I'm thinking one more weekend starting on Feb 21st, then a full 2 weeks starting March 7th (so they can tune progression for higher level content).

I'm really struggling on this decision.. to either play the next BETA, or now wait till release.. I know I love the game, so im thinking I should wait but every ounce of me is like GOTTA PLAY IT. I might just stand in Minstrel and play my lute to the strangers like I spent a good hour doing while helping new guys out.

Oh, I thought it was the international premium sale at candy and flower stores, with extra expensive dinners at restaurants
