Speculation: Did Hopeville get anything in return for being

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 10:23 am

Just wondering. Supposedly the Divide is what remains of Hopeville, and is a test site for Big Mt tech. The Sierra Madre got autodocs and vending machines in exchange for testing out Big Mt's products, so does that mean Hopeville got something in return for being experimented on? Any ideas on what it is?

Well I see it as being like one of those nuclear test towns, with nothing in it. Or like you said, maybe they got super umbrellas.

If it's in the vicinity of Death Valley as some of the evidence suggests, the return for being a test town was probably rain. Water is a good thing to have in the desert. Makes farming a lot easier.

Yeah, and there was that little model village in the meteorological station that you could activate the rain for....

I just read the whole title and it is mildyl amusing.

"We will use your town as a test town, and in return we will give you nuclear warheads. Use them when you like."

I like that idea. Maybe in exchange for planting nukes in a small, humble town for whatever reason, Big Empty gave Hopeville rain, and the means to control weather. The event that split the earth and destroyed NCR companies could be one of the nukes accidentally going off.

Hopeville was probably alot like Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The government built a town around a series of laboratories and around them a nuclear reactor.

Hopeville most likey got nothing. Like the people Oak Ridge, the government came up to their door and told them to get out. Their homes and farms then bull dozed to the ground.

I've got a feeling that in FO, the fact that someone can control the weather is reason enough for the world to crack, and that's without the nukes even being mentioned.

You mean the Y-12 complex? I see a connection with the name to those weird named OWB buildings.

A place meant to control the weather and cause earthquakes would need alot of space, resources and power as well as hundreds if not thousands of people working on it. On the same scale as the Manhattan Project.

The Mojave Desert would be a great place for such a project. If there was a Hopeville, it was most likely levelled and the people that lived their kicked out.

On the playground where I spent most of my days
Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool
Shootin' some b-ball outside of the school.

Well ok then...
When a couple of guys, they were up to no good.
Started making trouble in my neighborhood.
I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-air!"

I do like the idea that they were given the power to control the weather in exchange for the tests. Maybe when the nukes went off and no one was watching the weather control, it got out of hand and destroyed the place. Maybe we can go to wherever the weather was controlled from and ...do stuff.

I whistled for a cab and when it came near
the license plate said fresh and it had dice in the mirror.
If anything I could say that this cab was rare
But I thought 'Nah forget it yo homes to Bel Air!'

Ok im done now, we can get back on topic.

I . Pulled . Up to the house about 7-or-8
And I yelled to the Cabby "Yo, homes smell you later!"
Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there
To sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-air.

Most likely as insurance: "Participate in these tests and benifit, or be deleted from existince."

Desperation makes people do crazy things, expecially on the brink of war.

Hmm, could be. I thought it was more along the lines of: "We have these missiles here, don't tell anyone about it and let us test here. Here is controlled weather in exchange."

There may be no connection at all between the nukes and the weather experiments. They did like to build silos in areas that were remote. They might have been there well before the experiments began.

Hmmm, that could be as well, or the theory above me. I guess only time will tell. :P Hopefully. :sadvaultboy:

It might be possible that Hopeville didn't know about the weather experiment, the nukes, or any other experiments that were going on.

Maybe the nukes were in place as a fail safe. If the weather control failed, the nukes will go off and destroy the machine. But the nukes never went off.

Do we even know they are nuclear warheads?

That makes no sense. They're ICBMs. They're intended to be launched at other countries. Why they weren't? Who knows. If you wanted to have a nuke to blow up the equipment in case of a problem, you wouldn't put it on top of a two stage rocket.

I am not fully up to date on the latest info on LR. From what I know, there is to be warheads around the area and one ICBM for sure that Ulysses is in front of in the Screen shot.

So if there are many ICBM as well as a weather control place and labs, that to me would not make sense.
