E3 Speculation/ potential game spoilers

Post » Tue Mar 09, 2010 6:51 pm

Do you guys think they'll show unseen footage of Lockleor (my character) at E3 this year?

Also do you think they'll be spoilers? I don't want to venture into Southwind and already know what mean Juniper's Alehouse has on sale- know what I mean?

Maybe we should all go on a Skyrim Media Boycott UNTIL release! My mom already said I don't have to go with her to pick up Branley (my sister) from Yoga class.

Looking at Bethesda's marketing history, I don't think they ever spoiled anything major.

I knew about the nine devines 8 months before Oblivions release. and I knew what Mehunes Dagon looked looked like about a week before I played Morrowind. The only franchise to my knowledge that kept a tiight lip on plot was the Super Mario series of games. This extends from their gameboy titles all the way up to the newly released Wii titles natually. Myamoto is the best at not talking.

I don't think the knowledge of the Nine Divines, and Mehrunes Dagon his appearance is a real major spoiler. It's like knowing what the Greybeards are, and how Dragons look.

They won't spoil the MQ. I'm not even expecting much to be shown at E3.

Its all a game. They've probably got 3 or 4 lists of things ...
- things they'll talk about freely
- things they'll talk about freely, but later
- things they won't talk about freely but don't care if they're leaked
- things they try to keep a surprise

Ultimately, its just a way of maintaining anticipation and interest. If everyone knew precisely how all the mechanics would work and how the story progressed, there'd be a lot less anticipation. But if you keep a certain amount of things on that "do not talk" list, then there's always something for people to yap about and thus a constant state of anticipation maintained.

E3 is closed to the public, and anything seen most likely will be dribbled out in small doses from websites and magazines.

I really think they should invite a small group of forum members to their booth. That way we can hear something from the fans, who will most likely be brutally honest about what they saw.

Disagree. I think ANY little thing seen at E3 will be uploaded and dissected to the 9th degree

I thought this was the case too, but someone in another thread informed me otherwise.

It is closed to the public, but we'll both hear previews from it and we'll likely get an official gameplay video posted here, just as with Oblivion.

can you imagine how awesome it would be to come into the world of skyrim not knowing a single thing about it? not even knowing that dragons were in the game? It is already a defeated dream of mine :( i kind of wish i had not even heard about the game until it was out so i could just go buy it.

Yes, I understand this about Bethesda's booth, however, is E3 itself closed to the public? I understand they had tried this format but had since returned to public access

I believe you need some kind of credentials/pass to get in, but it's not completely closed off like it was those couple years when it was press only.

One thing I hope they do is release a few decent length in game footage trailers of various things like they did with oblivion. That way i can look at all the small details of item placement and art/style direction of the world better. Also it will give a good look at the graphics and textures. A good walk 3-4 minute though some towns and forests showing lighting, textures and animations will give a better indication of graphics. That way some real comparisons can be made to the claims that witcher 2 has so much better graphics( something I do not believe or care THAT much about though) since that game has 10 some minute of detailed footage while the Skyrim trailer has brief shots of various locations. Even if it is just Xbox footage which it probably will be it is easy enough to imagine the difference with anti aliasing and resolution alone the computer makes.

Also I to do not want to know too much about the story. This time around mystery is better, not a whole lot more explanation is needed since there is so much other stuff besides the main storyline. I was a tad disappointed in the Oblivion trailer that showed the Emperor being led through the cell with the revelation his sons were murdered and that is how you escaped. That was too much info. Just more about the game world and new additions is better, no spoilers though.
