Speculation on the Dragonborn's fate in TES6

Post » Sun May 18, 2014 6:52 pm

I know that heroes don't have set fates, but it was implied that Sheogorath in Skyrim is the Hero of Kvatch, and it was mentioned that it was rumored that the Nerevarine went to Akavir. So, what vague thing could they say about the Dragonborn. Here is a cool thing they could say: "I heard that the Last Dragonborn met Nerevarine in their travels, and they went back to Akavir to face Tosh Raka!" "Where did you hear that?" "Some drunk Nord from Skyrim told me! Carried a wierd looking sword around. Don't rememeber what he looking like, still a bit hungover from last night!"

Seriously, we could really get an interesting explenation, and sticking to tradition, there is an MMO based on TES coming out in a week, Neloth from Morrowind is alive and well, apparently choices do not matter and tradition is slowly going out the window.

Your problem with tradition is that Bethesda isn't making ESO.

Hopefully we never hear from him or her again. A guard might flippantly comment that the Dragonborn was seen hunting dragons in High Rock or something, but that should be it. The race and gender of the Dragonborn MUST be kept unmentioned - the whole point of the series is that YOUR character is the 'canon' character, no matter what.

Two things:

1> TESO is set a thousand years or so before the events of Skyrim, in 2E 583. Neloth isn't a player character, just an NPC, so we don't have a say in what happens to him.

2> Bethesda's 'tradition' thus far had been to keep the fate of your character vague so you could decide for yourself. What happened to your Dragonborn? Entirely up to you.

I didn't say they were making it. Nore did I try to imply it.

I agree completely. We wouldn't meet them or anything, only hear about them, plus, this would be in an entirely different province, people are bound to get things wrong.

The last, has replaced the first. He is now the Champion of Hermaeus mora.

Or maybe he followed the Blades and slays Dragons across Tamriel, growing everstronger, and recruiting Blades in Dominion-Free territories

He could have stayed atop the mountain, meditating with the Greybeards, controlling his voice.

Dragonborn will be a character of the past in TES6, as we role-play a completely new character in 6, everything in 6 will be part of the evolution of the Scrolls. I can't even remember what happened to the character I role-played in Oblivion, he's still messing with potions I think.

Dragonborn will retire to join him in beautiful Oblivion where they meditate on their past experiences.

I hope he isn't mentioned to a large extent, principally because the CoC wasn't mentioned at all in Skyrim. So I really hope that this blonde haired Nord in an iron helmet doesn't outlive his purpose.

I read this on another forum... An asteroid is hurtling towards Nirn and in order to save the planet the dragonborn climbs to the top of the throat of the world, looks down and shouts an obsenely powerful FUS ROH DAH thus pushing the planet out of the asteroid's path, however as a result of the shout the dragonborn is launched up into the sky and never seen again.

Why not just shout the meteor away?

The canon is pretty much that CoC = Sheogorath. Unless someone took out the CoC and then mantled Sheogorath themselves, I guess we wouldn't know. But 'canon' doesn't have to be what's in our heads. Likewise, the Dragonborn doesn't have to be the Champion of Hermaeus Mora :whistling:

Since the DB slayed Alduin, there are no more dragons in tameriel (theoretically. there are still dragons in game). So that wouldn't make any sense

That's not true, there are plenty more dragons in Tamriel. Alduin wasn't the last, nor was he in any way a tether keeping them alive.

He was the one that raised them from the dead. Yes, after he dies there are still living dragons, but they are soon killed off by the dragonborn (like VERY soon). And without any way reanimating/ renewing them, they become a dead race maybe 5 years after Alduin is killed... It was the MQ in Skyrim so I think that this is right

Its very likely he/she could be written off as having disappeared in Sovengard or Apocrypha  I kind of would rather a more...in-depth epilogue to the Dovakiin, Eternal Champion, The Agent, Nerevarine, and COC don't quite reach that...."epic slendor" or level of "oh [censored]" (subjective) the way the Dovakiin does.

I'd be satisfied if it went along the lines off,

"Ah that old Dragon Slayer all those years ago? heard they fought in the Skyrim civil war, went toe to toe with a couple of Daedric princes, had something to do with a Vampire uprising in the North, and...heh well you didn't hear it from me, but apparently they saved the world on more than one occasion! bah its all here say when you come right down to it. hasn't been a peep from them for ages now."

All of the Herma Mora tryhards ignore that Dragonborn tells you 100% that the LDB isn't mora's slave when Neloth says he doesn't have any of the signs.

True, and it makes sense. The Dragonborn can use the Standing Stones and sees no pages in the Book of Fate, both signifying that they do not have a fate set in stone. It seems logical that such would grant some resistance, or even perhaps immunity, to the Prince of Fate's grasp.

I have it on the good word of sailors fresh off a southern whaling ship that the Dragonborn was seen lazing on the warm sands of a Pyandonea beach, sipping a cool umbrella libation while watching beach bunnies (whatever those are) prancing in the surf.

Tired of those long cold winters, you betcha.

Neloth still should not have come back in Dragonborn. It was a cool addition, and almost excusable on that basis alone, but the PC in Morrowind had the option of killing him. Therefore his fate should have been left ambiguous, just like everyone else's when the meteor hit. The only characters whose fate could really be decided by the developers are the ones on the ship at the beginning - like Jiub - as the PC never gets the option to kill them. The only character in Morrowind whose fate is certain is Dagoth Ur's, as his death was an unavoidable part of the main quest - the lives of the rest of the Main Quest characters are left ambiguous thanks to the back door.

Who are you to dictate the story? The option to kill Neloth was part of a conspiratorial plot, the fulfilment of the prophecy (to thus enable the events of Skyrim) was most likely deemed more important than some petty dispute between two organisations also you never had to take quests from Trebonius and clearly Neloth's fate is certain in Morrowind too, much like Almalexia's . The developers decide the fate of all characters, so far as what made sense. Just because YOU make a decision in one game doesn't mean the developers have to take YOUR choice into consideration. The box-art for Morrowind shows a male dunmer Nerevarine, likely the canon Nerevarine much like the Imperial Hero of Kvatch and possibly the Nordic Dragonborn. The games are a portal in which to play YOUR game with YOUR choices but there is a defined story internally which is extrapolated on in later games.

There will probably be a rumor or something. But of course, a rumor is, well, rumour. My Nerevarine might have started it intentionally. My CoC mantled Sheogorath, but left a part of herself behind to continue her mortal life. My dragonborn will likely try to get away from the violence and the guilt of her adventures, and if a cliff racer crash-landing on Vvardenfell becomes the almighty Dragonborn purging the island of dragons, the common folk can believe whatever rubbish they wish.
