Speculation on what's in the new patch

Post » Tue Mar 09, 2010 1:28 pm

Just your thoughts on what may be in the new patch mentioned in the above forum by the senior developer, and any potential that might relate to the DLC's that are hopefully coming out soon.

Thanks for your ideas,

Ronarch

Well, one thing we can be sure of, the new DLC would make the current game glitch and stall and crash, which is why it was essential to release the patch first. Maybe they ran into geck limits with npcs or something.

From J.Sawyer:

"Energy Weapons only have four (or five, if you include MF Breeder) ammo types, so cost doesn't scale in the same way as it does with Gun ammo. The original ammo consumption rates on some of the EWs were too high, but the idea was to keep raising the cost of ammo investment over the course of the game.

For the next patch, the most ammo-hungry weapon, the Tesla Cannon (and Tesla-Beaton Prototype), has had its consumption rate lowered significantly. It also behaves much differently and feels like a much better/more distinctive weapon."

Hopefully Explosives will be worth a damn with it.
And hopefully Guns gets an overall nerf while EW gets an overall buff.
Why?
Cause that's how it should be done. :disguise:

I'm running a "de-nerf" mod for Energy weapons, makes them the death-machines they SHOULD be, rather than BB guns with batteries :P

Cool to hear that some weapons will have ammo consumption lowered, some of them were just ridiculous.

In comparison to EW and Explosives, yes they do. (Or enemies health needs to go up a notch and EW and Explosives get more power)
It's better than laser weapons, plasma weapons and explosive weapons.
I call bull on that design.
Explosives and EW should be stronger than Guns.

I'm quite happy with guns as they are. I hope that none of them get nerfed. Of course, if they do, I'll just deal with it.

I just know in my heart that there's going to be a bugfix for Boone that will fix his combat problem where he keeps holstering his weapon and that will fix his head-tracking....he won't be a zombie anymore. There are a few other things I want to see but this one will be important.

Something to stop Chief Hanlon from repeating each line of his speech two or three times, every time? A fix for the Radscorp and Ant funky burrowing-walk dance...

... all's you gotta do to register what needs fixing is play the game through, visiting every location, and do every quest you can... to compile a decent fix list. Play through twice and accept those quests you couldn't take due to Rep on play-through one, you have an even bigger fix list. There are many, many problems, and the longer the patch takes to see the light of day... the more hopes I have of seeing the patch to end all patches - with a fix list longer than the Harry Potter series of books. lol :D

Take your time Obsidian. I mean it. :disguise:

Sawyer said some time age that Gatling Laser would be getting a buff in the next patch.

I guess/hope they will try to make it a bit more like laser RCW by either buffing the base damage by 2-3 points or by reducing attack rate from 30 attacks/second to 20 attacks/second and increasing base damage by 5-6 or something along those lines. Attack rate reduction/base damage increase would also fit in their plan to reduce energy weapon ammo consumption so it would solve two problems with one stone at least with gatling laser.

I really hope that the patch includes a fix for the "poisoned companion" bug.
That's what still makes me nervous after +300h in game :glare:

For the love of god, just fix the glitches attached to lever-action rifles locking up and with the day of the week reseting to Sunday when you reload the game, preventing merchants from refreshing their inventory. Fix those two things and everyone will be happy.

I am just going to post this here... Has anyone noticed that .308 ammo has disappeared from the game? I took a couple weeks off New Vegas to play Shogun 2 Total War (great game) then came back to New Vegas. Have been playing it for many hours now. Went to every dealer I know that sells .308 ammo and yet none of them have any. I can't even make it. I have given enough time from inventories to replenish, yet no .308 ammo!

So yeah I hope the new patch fixes it.

I haven't noticed that problem, I think its just you. Considering the ammo's popularity the board would be full of screaming posters.
