Speech Options

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 7:22 am

In Oblivion when you started a conversation with an NPC you only had one word options to say to them, for example all you could say to someone is RUMOURS or SKINGRAD etc... and limited what you could say to people. It would be much better if they could improve these options and when given question from other NPC's there are more answers you can give them instead of the occasional YES and NO.

Also there is a lack of unique voices in the game, pretty much each race only had a male and female voice which I think they should change like in Fallout 3 where everyone had a unique voice.

Another problem is if you get an NPC really annoyed with you and make them say hateful stuff to you as soon as you start a dialogue option they say it in a much calmer voice, for example if you speak to the Dark Elf who's house got taken away he speaks to you in a drunken way and as soon as you click the quest dialogue option his voice somehow immediately sobers up, which they should defiantly change in Skyrim.

They said dialogue options wont take much of your screen.. and that the world wont stop when you talk which means more options I guess.... But now you can runaway from Guards when they say "Stop right there criminal scum"!

Im thinking the system will be more like Fallout 3 were you actually had what you are going to say in front of you, and you can choose which dialogue choice you wish to go with.

although it did dishearten me to find out that you can no longer talk to everyone and only people of importance, although this feature was present in Fallout and it never really bothered me, im actually completely unsure about the dialogue system and i think i will be until i see it in action, hopefully that wont be long though with E3 in just a couple of days.
