And I could drench spam in A-1 sauce. Same thing, right?

I'd buy that...for a dollar.

It is a shame and the people defending it are just...eh.

I think some people would defend Bethesda if they decide the game was just going to be about how fat their mom is.

...or Morrowind.

One of my favorite Morrowind stories is this cave where there was a gap between two rocks. I thought I couldn't make the jump so I dropped some stuff and then failed. Then I dropped more and failed again. It was only when I dropped everything, I finally made the jump. I was naked but an accomplished Dunmer. I was so proud of myself. Only in Morrowind.

I honestly can't remember any actual need or advantage of jumping in Oblivion.

You sir lack creativity. just because you can't find use in something doesn't mean someone else can't.

I used the high buildings and rocks to my advantage.

The speed of two characters should not be reliant on who has to stop first.

These kinds of accomplishments remind me of the feeling of release you would get when you stab yourself in the shin and leave it there for a day only to remove the knife later...

I mean the only feeling those gaps gave me was frustration seeing how no matter how much points I had on Acrobatics (and I had it as a major skill), it was impossible to jump over... Only in Morrowind.

No, but when I raise my acrobatics skill, I expect some sort of improvement on jumping height.

I had 30 in acrobatics, and I couldn't jump over a small crack on the floor... this is pretty pathetic...

You want to show us this crack? Cause I'm curious as to what you think you should to be able to jump over at level 30 acrobatics, because I'm pretty sure you're gauging it wrong.

You can jump over the Statue of Liberty with 30 acrobatics.

As long as I can still change my movement speed in the INI or by modding it in I'll be fine, assuming I wont be contempt with it. If my characters running speed is fine as it is I obviously wouldn't need to change it.

I'm quite satisfied it's gone to be honest, as I always just put points in it to get around the world quicker. An attribute to save me time running around, which was frustrating in itself. And don't try to defend it by going "then don't do it", since it was there, I did. It made me lazy. But that's just me.

One second for 100 meters worth of improvement room is sufficient. Nothing game breaking or archetype blending, just a little bit diversity.

It's a shame its gone but it doesn't matter that much in the end.I am gonna get this on 360 and I still like complexity in my games but I am getting the console version since my PC won't be able to run it and I don't have the cash to buy a new one or upgrade. Not all of us who play on console are halo freaks who can't appreciate anything more complex then a corridor shooter. In fact I quite enjoy old school pc games and had a great deal of fun playing through Daggerfall and Battlespire. But for new stuff my choice is consoles.

It was clear from the outset that people start going :swear: on Bethesda for their changes on the game. Yes, Beth is a company that, of course, wants to earn money. That's how economy works.
But Bethesda is not EA or some other crappy publisher who throws more and more ruined games on the market every year. I trust them and their changes because they seem to be company who actually cares about their games. This may be a discussion point because you [insert angry forum guy here] may think that Bethesda needs to take care of all your wishes. Well, they do not, because it's just impossible to make everything right for everyone. Do you think they say "Screw that stuff, it's more fun to get to see people get angry."?

Merged Chest and Greaves? That pisses off people who like to wear different combinations, yes, but in the end they're giving us more armors this time. And they stated that it would be a plus in performance.
Romance and Marriage? People got pissed of because of that, even when it's totally optional.

And now the same with the Atheltics and Acrotbatics. Was it fun to level them in Morrowind or Oblivion? NO. Only if you liked to jump around like an idiot and to get the best possible fall-damage without killing you to increase your skill.
I could understand this discussion if they stated that those two skills are definately gone and won't be replaced by any other sort of mechanic. But they didn't do that.
They haven't published all infos on the perks yet, and how the stamina/fatigue stuff will work with the running speed.

This post will not change any opinion. The forum will be a battlefield for different opinions in the next months and both sides (Pro Beth, Con Beth) may be right or wrong, but all of this is useless crap and will lead to constant bashing now until they give us more infos.
The battle will even continue after the release, cause there'll be lots of guys who just LOVE Skyrim and will defend it at any costs, and there'll be people who just HATE Skyrim because of all the changes. You can't please everyone,it's just not possible.

It's easy to say Bethesda gets lazy by removing and/or polishing stuff. Take a look at the hand-placed flora, items, NPCs, cities or just the world itself and then tell me again that they're lazy.

Well, they do not, because it's just impossible to make everything right for everyone. D

Thing is though is that adding the things we want back in wouldn't displease anyone. You can't really justify not having options in a game like this.

Merged Chest and Greaves? That pisses off people who like to wear different combinations, yes, but in the end they're giving us more armors this time.

Nothing was stopping them adding more armor varieties before. The fact that there are thousands upon thousands of armor mods, a significant portion of which actually fit in with the game extremely well, often seamlessly, proves that it isn't impossible to create great armor sets with separated armor.

And you know what, if the art team wants to create armor sets that somehow require merged armor pieces, then let those armors be merged, and separate everything else that can be. Something like the OB dark brotherhood armor, for instance, would have made no sense whatsoever to be separated. But its easy to see how you could separate iron armor for instance.

Romance and Marriage? People got pissed of because of that, even when it's totally optional.

Problem was that it was a waste on the dev's part. Stuff like that is better left to modders.

Was it fun to level them in Morrowind or Oblivion? NO.

Then the solution is to make them fun to level. Not to remove them. Removal =/= fix.

If I hadn't made specific characters that were fast runners and high jumpers, I wouldn't have played Oblivion half as long. It's incredibly rewarding and a lot of fun to get into place other characters couldn't, and it made you feel actually different, a unique playstyle. Your choice to increase athletics, acrobatics and speed actually mattered, as opposed to picking different fighting styles to kill enemies, which all have the same result.
Jumping from rooftops to rooftop, picking your assassination targets with a bow, looting the hidden chests. I best most people didn't even make it to the top of New Sheoth, whereas I spent hours there.

Athletics and Acrobatics are more or less passive skills, and probably didn't fit into the new character leveling system.

And you would know because.... You are developing it? Or is this just hearsay?

All races get same movement speeds, athletics/acrobatics are gone and the Speed attribute is gone. R.I.P. Speed and Athletics/Acrobatics

*Dances on Althetics/acrobatics grave* :celebrate:

look we have Horses if you want to run fast, i know that its a pain not being able to jump "because jumping 20 feet was useful because there was aton of places you can reach" and running as fast as your horse but its ok im sure you will appreciate the landscape that the developers have created that much more

I hope you realize the utter failure of logic that you just had here.

i know that its a pain not being able to jump "because jumping 20 feet was useful because there was aton of places you can reach"

Warrants putting neat things for us to find. Just because the Dev's are apparently not creative enough to give it some more use does not warrant its removal.

and running as fast as your horse but its ok im sure you will appreciate the landscape that the developers have created that much more

Yeah, I'm sure its running fast and jumping high that distracted people from the landscape in Oblivion and Morrowind. :lmao:
