Speed Run World Record?

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 9:51 am

I was browsing the Youtubes and I saw this brand new speed run of Fallout: New Vegas done in a scant 40 minutes. Has anyone found (or done) any faster? Here are the links:

Note: If you have not yet completed Fallout New Vegas, then you may not want to watch Part 4 because there are endgame spoilers.

A pretty amazing run if you ask me. :tops:

None that I can tell. And the reason why the loading times are pretty quick is because he is on PC. Sigh, I wish Bethesda could make Fallout 4 load quicker on consoles. One could dream...

He isn't on PC, his pip boy and HUD messages are directed at a 360 controller, unless he is using one plugged into his PC.

I'm pretty sure he plugged in the controller then. No way does a console load that fast and not crash/freeze during the entire 40 minutes. :(

Don't know where people get the idea that all console versions are laggy and buggy, mine isnt, and my friends isnt.

Wow. I did a speed run at about 2hr 20mins, thought it could be won in less than 2 with more thought, but after seeing this, i'll tip my hat at being somebody being able to beat it 40mins, i won't even try that.

Looking at the screen though, graphics are crisper than a console, i'm betting its a pc, i play on both 360 & pc and that looks more like pc graphics than console. Plus you can by a hardwired 360 controller and plug it in your computer, it works the same.

I haven't watched them all the way through yet, does it show the characters stats?

Ingenious. I never considered speech.

Oh. Mine is. The loading screen for Fast Travel can take up to 4 minutes, as well as entering/exiting interiors. And there are some places where my game freezes or crashes without fail; examples would be Hidden Valley, Red Rock Canyon, and the Gommorah. Though this may be due to file size, as my 2nd character has 12 MB saves and my 3rd has 9 MB. So yeah, this is why I want to get a decent PC for my Fallout needs. :sadvaultboy:

I play on the 360, and I can play for 4 or 8 hours straight without a crash. Some times I only get on crash and then nothing afterwards. So far, I get alot less crashes playing on the 360 than I do on PC games.

Heh,
That's probably how they beta tested it ...and why there were so many unfixed bugs on release.

He's taking a detour at the beginning, through Black Mountain... my way is faster, it's along the side of Black Mountain... if you stay along the side the deathclaws don't see you

The Black Mountain "detour" lets him fast travel to Dorado.

Yeah, I'm still going to do that, but I don't want to give up my current playthrough, started it to test some mods and now I at least want to finish it, and then use it and its discovered locations for Versus Gojira.

Not to detract from the speed of the run itself, which is very awesome, but the "loading" screen can be easily edited out of the video, y'know. I play on a pretty high end PC and while loading times are short, I still see the spinning circle for 2-3 seconds. Some of those loading transitions are immediate, which to me says "edited out." I've done it myself on some of my vids cause I figure no one wants to repeatedly look at the loading circle. :) (edit: in part3 at 8:36 he missed one, hehe)

PS I'm also fairly convinced they sped up the run speed of their character by a small bit...default run speed doesn't produce that kind of fly-by on my screen, but increase run speed by .10 or .20 does. This wouldn't affect overall time by much or anything tho.
