If you have an active spell absorption effect (e.g. from the Atronach birthsign), does it absorb magical damage from all sources, or just cast spells? I'm finding that arrows with enchantments always seem to do full damage, and I never get any magicka increase.

My current character is an Altmer, who tends to stay out of the range of melee weapons, but I assume the same will apply to those.
