Spell absorption bug... Easiest bug to fix. WHY?!

Post » Tue Apr 09, 2013 8:13 am

You know the bug I'm talking about. The one where if you have active spell absorption, it will also on occasion absorb your own conjuration spells.

Bethesda never patched it, WHY?! No seriously, I just did a little research of my own while messing with the creation kit. I **** you not, FIXING this bug is as ****ing simple as checking a check box.

I'm dead serious.

If you look at the spell info tab, there is a box to check for "disallow spell absorption/reflect". YEP, YOU GUESSED IT. It is left unchecked when it obviously should be checked. REALLY BETHESDA?!

I understand you can't patch every bug. I understand it's a big game. I know the painstaking process of Q & A. But this is utterly ridiculous. It does not require any mental thought to fix, it's literally checking a box for each spell. They could have remedied this(it took me like only 10 minutes to find and fix EVERY conjuration spell) for either Dawnguard(which ADDED more conjuration spells, and then a second chance at Dragonborn(which added more conjuration spells.) in addition to the numerous other patches they released. REALLY???!?!

I have never openly ranted about Bethesda in this regard... but THIS? REALLY?! You could not check a ****ing box?! This shouldn't even be a problem let alone a "bug". You guys forgot to check a CHECK BOX!

Just thought I'd share this magnificent discovery I've made.

tl;dr: Spell absorption bug is fixed by checking a single box in the respective spell info tab for each conjuration spell.

You are on the PC...yes? The USKP takes care of that issue.

Are you certain that is what the box in question actually does? Did you check the box, create a save and install the mod to be for certain?

Lol. It is pretty annoying, but having 100% spell absorption is nice, even with it's ill effects. Bethesda is kind of known for this. I remember bugs in Fallout 3, specifically some of the DLCs that could've been fixed easily. Same goes for Skyrim. This however seems like something that could be fixed in a patch. It's a gameplay issue. Most of the gripes I had from previous Bethesda games were aesthetic bugs.

I can never choose that perk in alteration because of this.
