Spell Book!

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:04 pm

Yes, now after seeing that Skyrim is going to be a great game, game-play wise, we turn our over-demanding heads towards the inventory system...

will we have an actual spell book this time around?? and since spell making is out (hopefully its still 90% sure) will these spells level with use or will we have multiple levels in our book at once?

anyway again, will we get a nice organized spell book to see all our spells in (preferably in 3D like they said about other books)

AND will we have an equip character screen like in other RPG games?? because highlighting the items we are wearing is lame, since weapons will show in 3d in the inventory why not got the extra mile and give us a character screen so we can see what items are equipped instead of cluttering our inventory or selling the wrong item.
example : think diablo character screen or heroes 5 or any other RPG game ever made.

well that's my question, spell book and character screen, will we have them ! :read:

I sure hope the spells level with use since we can't make more powerful ones.

An actual spell book? Like a literal book? Eh. I feel like that's kind of a wizard cliche. If I learn a spell, then I already know it. I don't need to write it down in a book.

I could also care less if there's 3D elements in the menus. As long as they're accessible and not the worst menus ever, I'm fine. They are the least of my concerns.

I agree it shouldn't be a literal book. Maybe the spellbook is another tab in the character section of the UI that contains all the spells similar to what it was in Oblivion but more organized and easier to read.

It seems like the spell system is a LOT more organized to start with now, so I don't think there's much to worry about as far as the spell book goes.

What if your spells get organized in the spell list based on their school?

I think it needs to be an actual grimoire in your inventory that you can pull out and flip through. Not that you have to pull it out to cast your spell, but think of it more as the place where you record your notes on how to do different things. Like math equations.

Well Oblivion has interface thats designed to looks like journal or diary, Skyrim will have different UI more like world shape where earth is map and stars is player statistic screen, how will spell tab look?
I doubt it will book.
About spell management Magic no more variable then before, smaller number of spells will even remove spell delete button along with spellmaking.
example : think diablo character screen or heroes 5 or any other RPG game ever made.

Inventory Paper Doll or inventory divided by cells?
I use DarNified UI with additions

Paper Doll doesn't need since we already have our character model while cell based wz_inventory with filters can handle it, only thing thats need it separation filter for equipped items, quest items and so on like in Fallout 3.

I just want to be able to delete my spells. As long as I can delete spells I no longer want, I will be happy.
