Marcus tilted his head slightly at his new companion's words, a bit perplexed as to why he didn't think of that, before sighing dramatically. "Right then. While I suppose we could traipse all the way up to the castle and secure such a map, that is a rather long walk, and I don't really want to add onto my workload today, so let's just push our luck at the guard house, shall we?"
Marcus stepped out into the street, quickly making his way down and out of sight of the Guild, his strides long and fast. He walked in the manner of someone who was utterly confident in themselves, borderlining on arrogance. The constant look of irritation on his face didn't particularly help matters. Of course in his mind, his irritation was justified. He was an elite mage, off running errands and gathering information like some common apprentice? What was their purpose here if not to do what others could not? Marcus simply didn't see the point when something like this could be properly delegated to someone less important. Like the mercenaries. He smirked at the thought of a bunch of heavily armed and armored toughs running around relaying messages.
While walking, he decided to question the man accompanying him, to get a better idea of what kind of skills he would possess. Better to adapt your tactics to others than ask them to adapt to yours, he had learned. Especially when dealing with those not fully specializing in magic, as the man's bow seemed to indicate.
"Mr. Athon? May I ask what precisely your specialization is? Just in case we run into trouble, as I would rather not end up mismatching spells in combat."
As he finished the question, he arrived in front of the guard room, where two such men were lazing about, no doubt on break. "You there! We're on official Mage's Guild business and require a thorough map of the city along with a list of the occupants. Move along then, hurry up," he ordered, ignoring the fierce scowls that had been adopted on the guard's faces as the slowly moved to comply. Marcus himself waited patiently outside for them to return, and turned to Jerrod briefly, expecting a reply.
