As long as there's some "on the fly" spell customization available, that's a step forward. What I DON'T want to see is the "canned" strengths of OB's spells, where you need to buy seperate versions for 5, 10, and 20 points. If my character learns how to cast a weak fireball, why can't he figure out (or be trained) how to up it a point or two, rather than cluttering up his spell list with 4 different versions? I can take or leave the "combined effects", unless they're done under "Guild supervision". That sounds extremely difficult to get working in a reasonable manner, and I can see all sorts of strange things being done with it, even if it works nearly as well as planned.
