1. All frost spells freeze now to an extent. If there are finishing moves for spells then we could possibly see someone getting frozen solid and then we can smash them :celebration:
2. They will probably bring Wabbajack back, but I didn't find it that interesting really. It was more of a novelty item really.
3.No, not unless it is limited like I've explained where it constantly and rapidly drains your magicka so that you can only go far enough to get to a ledge you normally couldn't get to instead of flying all over Skyrim.
4. They already confirmed that you can make traps out of your spells so hurray!

As for what I would like to see in Skyrim, whatever magic fits the lore  I'm already content enough that they said that magic will be as epic as the plasmids in Bioshock, I mean seriously, that makes the game great just with that feature!

Hopefully a staggering effect for magic attacks

If an enemy gets hit by a powerful enough magical blast then they get staggered

  • A spell that knocks your opponent back (like what you could do with the backwards power strike in OB) or flings them through the air.
  • A blink spell that let's you teleport around the battlefield during combat (the magician's alternative to acrobatical evasion).
  • Passwall :D .
  • Flaming weapon (i.e. a spell that lets your unenchanted weapon be temporarily enchanted).
  • Mirror image - creates an illusionary copy of yourself that the opponents pursue.
  • Barrier - stops arrows, Matrix style
  • Rain of swords (Conjuration; quite literally rains metallic blades on your enemies)
  • Shapeshift spells
  • Immolation (enemies that strike you in melee take damage themselves)
  • Erase memory - the opponent forgets they ever saw you (goes back to the starting "stealth awereness" status)

Can't think of any more at the moment.

I used the Wabbajack on Mehrunes Dagon on my first play thru in OB for fun, and it crashed the game and made Dagon fold into himself a billion times over.. he ended up looking like a big, twitchy blob of snot. It was ridiculous, wish I would have recorded it.

And I agree with having as many spells as possible.

I think it'd be interesting to see spells that involve more strategy. We already have some information on how some of the traditionally cliched spells work (fire, ice, lightning, etc), but it is still possible that spells in schools other than destruction can now have more diverse functions. For instance, the "absorb," "reflect," and "shield" effects could be replaced by a system that allows you to set up "rules" for how spells work in a certain region. This could be as simple as saying "all damaging spells [regardless of who casts them] are reflected on the caster," or as complex as permuting all targeted spell effects [e.g. fireball becomes heal on target, etc].
While these functions could be capable of copying all of the old spell effects, I would hope that they would be capable of changing the mechanics of gameplay dynamically; to go back to my earlier proof of concept example, the same "spell" function that allows spell effects to be permuted would be available to the opponent as well as you: the result of this would be that targeted spell effects would effectively be scrambled in such a way that the careless fireball hurling magic duels characteristic of Oblivion and Morrowind would be suicidal; you would have no idea of knowing if your powerful self-targeted healing spell would actually disintegrate you. Effectively, this would force mages to be more cautious when casting spells to test out the "rules" of the system.

That's what I'd do if I ran the zoo.

what would i like to see? spell crafting *ducks flames*

an actual bolt of lightning. like not a ball that moves real fn slow, a bolt that leaps from my hand to where i've got the crosshairs pointed. Perhaps a spray effect ala force lightning using the flamethrower effect. Cone of cold. the triumphant return of at the very least self levitation or jump.

mostly i'd like to see a staff be worth something in a spell casting sense. As in if i'm holding a staff/rod/wand (and there should be at least 2 types : staves are twohanded rods/wands 1 handed.)
and i use a spell on that hand i want my dude to focus the spell through the staff in some fashion to either subsidize the cost or amplify one of the effects in some fashion. A staff should not just be a fancy stick. it should be a fancy stick that allows me to use my magic better/more efficiently etc.

I would like to see better summoning spells, and unique spells that can't be summoned by all conjurers and necromancers...

I would also like to see a rock paper scissor system with the Summoning system example being.

Necromancer (Summons Undead) Skeleton, Zombie, Wraith, Liche ect.
Conjurer (Summons Daedra "Demons") Scamp, Atronach, Daedroth, Dremora Lord ect.
Druid (Summons Animals/Monsters "Nature") Wolf, Bear, Troll, Ancient Minotaur ect.

Undead is strong against Daedra
Daedra is strong against Nature
Nature is strong against Undead

Sometimes I don't like to get into the thick of battle I just wanna summon a creature and see it maul everyone down and hope I have enough mana to sustain my goal.

I hope when they said over 85+ Spells they mean things like "Summon" being 1 and not Summon X Y Z = 3. Otherwise Summon X Y Z could easily mean 15+ of the 85+ spells. which is almost 20% of the spells ><

So lets say you can cast 2 diffrent spells with each hand and if you have the same spell in each hand that spell morphs into a stronger version of that spell.
Left Hand Flare
+
Right Hand Flare
= Rapid Flare Casting or Hold down the power attack for Fireball.

Now with staffs you could cast tier 2 spells "Fireball" without having to wield dual Flares. What's the benefit here? Well You can enchant your staff and Cast Tier 2 Spells.
To me this sounds ideal.. It's not overpowered, it makes sense, and maybe as a bonus you can "block" with the staff. If that doesn't sound good then maybe staffs should be an "easy" way to cast tier 2, 3, 4 ect spells.

Kinda think of it as a claymore I guess.. it's a 2handed weapon that does extra damage only in spell form.

Na just leave the summoning but make "Summon" one though.
