Spellsword: Skills & Perks

Post » Sun Nov 17, 2013 11:48 pm

First off, thanks to everyone who helped me decide the character I should choose. I have decided to be a Dark Elf Spellsword, focusing on restoration and destruction (and possibly alchemy). Now, I have to decide what skills and perks to focus on. Any ideas, comments, or suggestions? Thanks as always! :D

Skills to concentrate on I'd suggest Destuction, Restoration, One Handed and Light Armour.

For perks

  • Destruction: Concentrate on Fire, get the Dual Casting and Impact Perks asap
  • Restoration: Get Recovery, Regeneration and Respite
  • One Handed: Get Armsman (1-5), Fighting Stance, Savage Strike
  • Light Armour: Get Agile Defender (1-5), a lot of mage players go with hoods, if you do the same ignore the rest of the light armour perks, if not and you choose to wear a helm get them

One Hand is a big one. Go with Armsman perks when possible.

Pick the armor of your choice. For a battlemage I'd probably go Light, but either will suit a spellsword. Choose perks that enhance its effectiveness, they will synergize with smithing.

Learn Smithing to produce high-grade armor and weapons, you'll need both.

With Destruction, expect battles to be long-lasting, since you can't boost damage. Any enhancement or defensive potions you use, you'll need multiple ones for each battle. If you're doing the Main Quest, focus of lightning, which is useful against dragons.

Restoration is always useful for keeping you alive. And Alchemy will make you lots of money.

With my spellsword I went with:

destruction: bolt and cloak spells, didnt get dual casting

alteration: for the flesh spells

restoration: with respite perk, didnt get dual casting

heavy armor

one handed: sword

block (w/o shield)

I never go with more than one crafting skill per charanct, and I think enchanting fits better.
