...what are you talking about?

a link to the image you're referring to would be extremely helpful.

until then, my only response is this:

Maybe it is an illusion. It can be a part of spider.

Definitely looks like someone has buried a dagger in his head. Very strange.

that would be the dovahkiin... fighting a giant spider, not the "spider hero".

anyway, im not really sure what that is... first, is it really part of his helmet?

you'd think it would've been seen in more than one shot, if it was.

i dunno, i think its just part of the rocky wall in the background, and it just happens to blend in with his helmet.

official title of picture: spider hero...hence spider hero

but it doesnt look like the texture of the rocks behind so i guess its a mystery

im pretty sure the title of the image is meant to be a short description of it... its of a spider... and the hero... "spiderhero".

if an image contained a dragon and a dark elf, it'd probably be called "dragonelf" or "dragondunmer" or something, doesnt mean the elf is part dragon or anything... unless he's the dovahkiin.

hmm.

ok, nevermind, moving on. :whistling:

well, even if that... thing... isnt part of the wall, or the spider, there is just something about it that leads me to believe it isnt part of the helmet, either.

maybe its just the angle that makes it look weird, who knows... it'd be nice if a developer paid this topic a visit and cleared it up for us.

http://cms.elderscrolls.com/sites/default/files/tes/screenshots/SpiderHero_0.jpg It's just a decorative top on the helm, as far as I can tell.

Its name begs the real question: is the PC a hero with creepy arachnid powers (Spiderborn MQ variant confirmed)? Is the giant spider the real hero (convoluted subjective morality subtext)? Were Beth's web monkeys just too lazy to name the image files more descriptively? We may never know the truth...

The horns on the helmet is slightly different (more metal, then scaled horns), maybe a custom helmet (forged?)

ok... the enlarged image makes it obvious that its part of the helmet.

but still, thats a really odd decoration... it just looks... weird.

It looks to me like it's probably a different helmet, note that the basic appearance of the helmet aside from the horns seems like it may be different as well, it's just that both have the horned setup, which we'll probably see a lot more of in Skyrim than we did in past games given thw Viking theme of the Nords. Even though Vikings with horned helmets may not be historically accurate, it doesn't change the fact that it's something people associate with them, and as a work of fantasy, Skyrim can play off that association without needing to worry about whether it's historically accurate.

And in the larger version of the image, it definitely looks like the thing in question is in fact part of the helmet, just a feature of this particular one. So why is it there? A designer thought it would look good, I'd guess.

So we have the rusty horned helmet and the steel horned helmet.
Plausible indeed... all we know is... He's called the Spiderhero!

Maybe it's the knee cap of the spider? The leg of which is clearly where you would expect that to be...?

Hmm sort of looks like a dagger handle, but I think it's just something built into the armor. With that... Thingy up top. Morrowind had a pretty near looking Iron Helmet which was similar, though not the thingy on top. In spite of the interesting helms, the helmets didn't have parts put on to them. A cyborg spider would be neat, which if it is a part of the spider, it probably is. Though I doubt they're adding cyborg spiders.
