Spiders svck

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:20 am

I live in Australia so I fight giant spiders with my battle axe/sword every second day. Even thought I hate them, I think it'll be a good monster to have in game as it may bring a little more fear into combat.

YEah nightHuntsman, they could use it as a type of cognitive behavioral therapy and possibly bring down their anxiety levels.

This can work in reverse as well. Nothing really reinforces a fear of something like watching someone be killed by that something.

I'm stoked there's giant spiders in the game. If there are three things that should be in any fantasy or sci fi game like this it's zombies, giant rats and giant spiders.

But I feel for you. I know of someone who had a hard time with Fallout 3 with the radscorpions (which I think are awesome) and radroaches. That guy just got Fawks to kill them for him while he cowered in a nearby corner, but assuming there isn't a super mutant with a gattling laser that you can recruit as a companion in Skyrim maybe you could find a mod that deletes them from the creature tables or something.

I agree with the guy who says hitting them with a battle axe might be kinda cathartic for you.

Good luck with it.

I will be absolutely terrified by the giant spiders in Skyrim. I will do all I can to avoid them where possible.

Who needs a super mutant with a gatling laser? Apparently, we can summon dragons to fight for us, in Skyrim. :chaos:

It amazes me Australians manage to make it into their thirties with all the snakes and spiders and killer ants and god knows what else. Not to mention sharks and crocodiles.

I stopped being afraid of spiders, (especially ones in a game) when I was 12.

I look forward to seeing them in Skyrim, because that one in the trailer looks awesome!

I have a phobia of spiders. But i can tell reality from fiction. 7 ft. spiders shouldn't be a problem.

ROFL @ Sleign

this will help you get over it.
trust me, i had an immense fear of the dark when i was little, and games like resident evil and Zelda OOT helped me get over it [shadow temple].

also this is a small teary eyed story of how games have made my life better.

when i was a little boy [6-7] was told by my doctor that i would be blind when i became a teenager, my mother bought me a gameboy and the first two pokemon games that same week, i now have 20/20 vision and i'm 19 years old.

I'd use it to my advantage. Isn't it awesome to be fully scared of something in a video game? It'd be so much more immersive, because you'd genuinely be fearful of the thing you're trying to hack to death.
Think I remember a guy exactly like the OP, who was scared of giant Camel Spiders being in New Vegas.

People with phobia needs to face their fears and deal with them instead of trying to tell game developers how to make their games. I don't have any phobia, but even if I did, this is a game.

When a person who's got like millions times the mass of a small harmless critter like a spider is the one who's afraid, you know there's something wrong with today's society.

I'm actually kinda concerned about the inclusion of spiders in Skyrim, as sad as that sounds, haha. Of course I'll just svck it up and buy Skyrim anyways. But do any of you hate spiders as much as I do?

All the more reason to own their ass's.

They scare me like [censored] when I see one but in games I like chopping them. The spider in the trailer is not that scary, the scary thing would be if it is faster than me when I'm trying to flee.

I know someone who is, and the funny thing is that he/she is only scared of the small ones, the ones that are smaller than a human. Everything bigger, like the one seen in the trailer, would have no effect. Because then they lose their "creepyness" and only become huge fur balls or something. Eat this spider! :toughninja:

Spiders were scary in daggerfall. Opening a door just to get paralyzed by a small spider (that was waiting patiently at the door) and immediately realizing i haven't saved in an hour scared the hell out of me. i never went dungeon crawling without at least 5 cure paralysis potions

My only fear in a videogame? Being underwater, like Deep underwater where I can't see the bottom. I remember this one mission i Oblivion you had to go deeop underwater in some mages tower, I was so paranoid about going to todeep and running out of breath because I couldnt see how deep it was, then I finally came across a VERY minor water breathing that made me go for it, then what did I find? A GIANT SLAUGHTERFISH it was scary as [censored]!
