Spiders svck

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:10 pm

I'm extremely arachnophobic, and I freak out when I see spiders usually, if not my heart just starts rushing. Even in movies if there are spiders (giant or regular sized) I get freaked out, and fidgety. But in video games I just got used to it. Like in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, they've had spiders, and I didn't mind them too much. It's not really going to bother me in Skyrim, I might get a little freaked out fighting them, but it's not something that's going to bother me much.

please remember this game is rated "M" which means it's intended for mature individuals only

EDIT: well it's not rated yet, but Todd said it was almost definitely gonna be rated mature.

I'm scared to death of normal sized spiders. That said, i always feel better about being scared of them after I beat the stuffing out of one in a game.

I kind of have an (unrealistic) wish that video game developers would stop putting spiders in their games (they're like, freaking everywhere!), but in my case it's because spiders are my second favorite animal ever and I hate having to kill them. :violin:

On the new trailer if you watch it from PC gamer it says PEGI 18 I guess thats the rating maybe.

while I'm no arachnophobe I can relate to this as I was sh**-scared of those head crab things in the half life games (yeah yeah I'm lame) but i just powered through tho fighting just one of them gave me severe heebie-jeebies. Heck at one point i resorted to killing them as far away as possible with a rocket launcher!

Anyway, if it gets really bad in Skyrim i'm sure there'd soon be a mod that removes them on the PC. on the Xbox... well... perhaps use some sort of rocket launcher type fire spell :flamethrower:

Yes, I got the arachnophobia bad.

However, spiders in games really don't bother me. I just see 'em and wanna destroy them quickly and violently.

As I said, I went all Macguyver. I made a siesta-powered taser :)

But seriously, deodorant makes them all dizzy and they run away, like bug spray but weaker. It eventually fell off the wall after I sprayed it with the deodorant and poked it with the coathanger, so I trapped it in the sombrero :D so we just need these three items to get rid of spiders in Skyrim. If we can trap that giant spider and put it outside it'll be ok.

i dont see the problem. id totally freak out if i saw a zombie in real life, but its not like i get scared of zombies on screen. look at it as an opportunity to overcome your fear or something. or mod them out.

I'm not an arachnophobic but I do understand your concern, especially after having to deal with those roaches in Fallout 3 (I'm a Katsaridaphobic) :yuck:. But hey, you can always mod them out.

On a side note, those spiders looking intimidating and those pincers looked humongous!

I'm not really arachnophobic, but I still hate spiders. I don't mind having them in Skyrim, but there should be an option for your arachnophobic guys...

I feel the same TC. I honestly skip past the stills with the spider in it after I see it. It gives me a feeling of disgust more than anything.

But while I hate them with a passion, it does add a genuine fear in the game that I probably wouldn't have to begin with, so that's a plus. I think the dragons could end up being fearsome too. At least I hope so.

I will brave thorough them on this game however and kill them until they die. :gun:

No. I'm hemophobic, though. The inclusion of blood in video games has never bothered me, however. Is this really a big deal? I don't mean to sound ignorant, but even to the arachnophobic, how does a video game spider bother a person?

The same way video game trees and rocks and sounds can make someone feel the thing called immersion.

I'm not so much afraid of spiders as disgusted by them. They're creepy. The ones in the game will freak me out if they sneak up on us, as they are likely to do... But fortunately there are ways to deal with them :flamethrower:

Don't really have a phobia but i'm dead tired of giant insects and rats, that may very well be the most boring type of enemy in any rpg, dragons are close second... No wait, forgot about the orcs.

i love it when theres something making me feel uneasy about exploring a dungeon or a cave, i didnt really get a chance to experience that in oblivion, but did in fallout. enemies there were pretty scary, played it a long time ago so i dont really remember what weapon it was, in a basemant of some kind of museum and reaching it was really an ordeal, it was scary as hell . . . nonetheless when i exited the scary basemant with my brand new gun i felt really really good.

oblivion didnt really have that, and im not scared of spiders in the least so im not sure that skyrim will

My argonian will enchant his bow to paralyze, problem solved...

But if they add swarms that move too fast for that the experience would even dwarf amnesia into a calming collection of puzzles.
