Spin-offs?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:21 am

what would everyone think if future spin-offs were an alternate reality type of thing, in which events in the FO universe happened differently, or not at all. For example: the master killed the vault dweller, but encountered too much opposition from the enclave and BoS to completely control everything. Or if the enclave oil rig was never destroyed, or they had wiped out the east coast BoS and taken over, ect.? i think i'd be pretty cool! they could make another Fo game (4,5 ect.) one year, then two years later we get a spin-off like this! This way we get a new FO every 2 yrs! Of course not all the non-numbered titles have to be alternate reality stuff (we could have more NV type games), but Im getting a bit away from my point. basically, what would everyone think of this type of spin off(s) being made.

I'd rather not have alternate realities but I would not mind non-canon spin-off games like a real time strategy game where Unity and Enclave are still alive.

No I would not like that. It would just mess Canon up and split the Fallout fans even more.

That's exactly what I'm talking about, except game play style would be the same as the main games (I hate RTS or any form of turn based game play).

I only see a purpose for a spin-off if it's in different gameplay.

This.

Tactical squad-controlling game in the style of F:T. RTS with much bigger armies where you can control many soldiers in squads (in the style of CoH or DoW2)

Nah. Would prefer them all to be RPGs and take place in the same universe without any alternate realities. I definitely wouldn't mind going back in time (not time travel) to times before Fallout 1, between Fallout 1 and 2, between 2 and New Vegas, etc.

I wish Bethesda allowed them to stick with New Vegas being in the 2250s.

I'm trying tp brainstorm a few ideas for a fan made mod where the Vault Dweller failed to stop the master (chip in on my thread on the Universe board if you have some ideas), but any AR must simply be strictly unofficial, no crossed lines thing.

Spin offs are not the way to get more fallouts. I question whether more is better simply because it means less time to work on the game. To get more fallouts, you need more resources to make the game, not simply more story ideas.

Can they make a Kart game?
Or one where we raise brahmin on a little farm?

They have alternate realities in Fallout (except 3) -- just play for a different faction, watch the slides. Alternate realities.

You wouldn't have less resources/time. Like whats probably actually gonna happen, bethesda would develop the numbered entries, while obsidian would develop the spin-offs. All FO games would have yr dev cycles, we'd just end up seeing a new one released every 2 yrs.

Spinoffs don't have to be non-canon, but they should be a different type of gameplay. A strategy game would do well for the Fallout series.

New Vegas is hardly a spinoff, if you call New Vegas a Spinoff then Fallout 3 and any other game made by Bethesda or Obsidian is a spinoff.

Fallout 3 was pretty much a spin-off.

i REALY wont to see fallout before the war but what location would it be in? i would LOVE to see DC before da war! so hears my idea. so you start the game off as this choice 1 your born and its basically fallout 3 opening choice 2 you wake up in your house and you choice your name then you go to bath room and design character then you go downstairs and read the newspaper and take G.O.A.T like test and then you do what you wont like get a job and do stuff choice 2.5 your a teenager so it starts out the same way but you got parents! and thats all i got

You're a god amongst men.
Rest of the NCR-Legion war going on in turn based strategy on Total War level awesomeness. That's the spin-off I want.

So far i've got the World Map and several units done, I just need to get some voice's... unless I could use several voice files in each game...
