New York is East Coast and more Bethesda's domain. If Obsidian make a spin off it should be somewhere else than between Boston and Washington DC...

Great Khan Empire? As a Fallout Tactics game, I'd want that.

Everyone gets all angry if a numbered Fallout goes to New York. By regulating it to a spinoff, I get my Big Apple and no one else gets their brahmin panties in a twist that their Texas/Michigan/Florida etc. Fallout doesn't get a number.

Win/Win.

No, Empire as in The Empire Wasteland. The City that never Sleeps because there's always a Raider in the night. The Big Irradiated Apple. I'm talking about Frankie Sinatra, baby! It's hip, it's happening, it's got giant mutated aligators affectionately nicknamed "Zillas" living in it's sewer systems.

Start spreading the neeeews.

You screwed up todaaaaay!

You found yourself inside the sh*t

New York, New Yoooork!

These Brahmin skin shooooes.

Start running awaaaay.

You're in the crosshairs of it.

New York, New Yoooork!

If you make it here,

Honey, you sure as hell ain't going an-E-where!

You're trapped here

In New York, New Yooooooooork!

Yes. Don't act like a child. It's spun off from the core Fallout experience further than Tactics.

Something that's focused on story/narrative/writing instead of open-world theme park packed with silly minigames and small isolated quests. Something, you know, more mature.

if it wasn't an open world theme park it might get a bit boring for some players. fallout 4 for you is silly and your looking for something more mature done leave you with that much choice in gaming world. will you not be getting fallout 4 then

Heh, I will get it when it's heavily discounted and including all the DLC. And when I do play it eventually, I'll force myself into thinking that it's not called Fallout. Then I can have some fun running around raiding dungeons.

Also
>Bethesda's fault they didn't get the point
>Obsidian hadn't made a game, with any publisher, that got an 85 metascore, since KOTOR 2, their very first game.

Na man, Obsidian are just bad at making games. Even they admitted it during the PoE kickstarter stuff. It took them a decade from KOTOR 2, as well as 4 games, and 2 expansions, to make a game that got an 85 score, and that was South Park.

Intresting thing about the post is the details you expect an insider to honestly know are WRONG.

Can only play a MAN.. WRONG

you awake to see the building you are standing in blown apart.. Err WRONG you are not in a building you start in a vault

FO4 on last gen consoles? yeah i don't think so. How could this insider not know this? The whole point of upgrading the skyrim engine was because there were not LIMITED by last gen consoles. Why would you spend a year developing the game for an outdated sysyem? Why build the game for xbox 360 and ps3 slated for a Nov 2016 release when that is THREE years after the release of the current gen consoles? it makes zero sense. "hey lets make an inferior version of FO4 for systems 3 years obsolete! cuz you know why not?" This is just BS.

It really is so bloody easy to fool gamers. The CDPR insider about the so called downgrade shown to be false and this has so many obvious things wrong that just wouldn't change in 11 months. Gamers want so badly to know that they get fooled all the time by these BS insider posts.

i am sure they will get things right in this post as they claim a lot of things they have to have guessed right in somethings. But key areas where it just isn't rational for an insider to get wrong are now proven to be 100% wrong.

Yep, Metacritic is totally a valid indicator of game's qualities :D

The only bad decision Obsidian made was agreeing to those terms.

Shhh no facts. Obsidian being responsible doesn't fit the 'old guard' fallout fan's narrative. It has to be Bethesda's fault for FONV not getting its target score because they like that version of FO vs bethesda's version. You using facts and logic only clouds the issue and ruins their narrarative. Bethesda = bad fallout, Black Isle/obsidian = good fallout. And all those sales that show Bethesda reserected the franchise is just for CoD kiddies being catered to. Real fans who played fallout 1 and 2 think FO3 is crap. And if you like FO3 and claim to have played FO1 & 2 you are obviously lying.

Obsidian and Bethesda are on good terms. Both companies have spoken out about this.

Also, an Obsidian mod once deleted a post of mine on their forums and sent me a strongly worded PM about not trash-talking friends of the company when I spoke poorly of Pete Hines. So yeah, can confirm. :D

What he's arguing is that Obsidian got insanely abnormal bad press for the buginess of the game, which is unusual cause wtf all Bethesda games using Gamebryo are buggy. Beyond that, Bethesda was in charge of Quality Assurance and bug testing. It's not illogical to rationalize that "surely better bug fixes would've resulted in an extra point." There's more, but there was a time when the Obsidian devs were pretty active on these forums and walked some of us through the bug-fixing process to help explain why some bugs weren't getting fixed. Jason Bergman of Bethesda was also pretty vocal and informative about this (seriously wonder where that guy is now, he was cool).

It's not something definitive mind you, just saying I also don't see it as such an unreasonable assessment either.

Having said that, Obsidian also must be to blame for, for example, agreeing to make the game in such a short time frame instead of saying "lolwat r u serious, that's too short."

So you just admitted that you'll but the game and have fun playing but because it is called fallout you have to hate it? That is some bizzare logic. i really can't take the old guard seriously with posts like this.

Some of use gamers who played the first two fallouts actually liked Fo3 because we knew it was going to be a bethesda game in the fallout universe vs a black isle game made by bethesda.

Obisdian doing another Fallout is improbable, If another in between Fallout is coming I would figure that Zenimax Studios would get handed that project and the old Fallout fans would revolt.

Like your profile image and like Fallout 3, your logic is black&white. I have enjoyed playing Skyrim, so I'm very likely to enjoy Fallout 4. However I have enjoyed Fallout 2 on an entirely different level. Incomparable. It's like if you said ... I don't even know what to compare it to. "You like bumpercars, so why would you want to drive a Corvette?!"

A spinoff set in Chicago or New York would be cool.

This is what i wanted instead of Fallout 4. Its nothing against BGS, but Obsidian's FNV was more to my particular taste. I like what they did by checking out what the modding community was doing and then implemented many of the most popular features they found there. I expected BGS to do the same for f4, but perhaps those [censored] rushed initial metacritic reviews by casual professional game reviewers did obfuscate the fact that fnv was indeed a much better RPG than F3 was. At least to those gamers who have a preference for the less mindless and more thoughtful game experience.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed F3, but FNV really hit the sweet spot for me. I couldn't have asked for a better game.

Anyway tl:dr, yeah id love to see Obs do a spin off. As long as they take the same development route they took last time. I dont want to see any streamlining or dumbing of features, not even for new replacement ones, unless they are improvements that do the same thing.

They're two very different beasts granted they're in the same universe, same engine, etc but they're different enough to be considered very unique to eachother in terms of atmosphere and in ways gameplay.

Also I know people will disagree with me since some of her predictions were relatively or close to being right but we should probably take that leak with a grain of salt.

Nice informative post. Good to know they are on good term.

Next: if you read the sarah reed post, it is mainly [censored]. Not much got to be real, so I would dismiss it totally.

New Vegas was a bit of an acquired taste after FO3. I wasn't a big fan of mostly desert terrain and I missed the city-scape that 3 offered, but I can finally appreciate it. I will say that their DLC was pretty solid and I would trust them on that front as well because they gave me....Dead Money :)

Hah, and we can begin the war again over who did it better in a never ending cycle of vitriole and drive the mods nuts...

I kid, I'd play it if they made one.

I would love to see another Obsidian Fallout game, this time set in New Orleans.

>Mardi Gras stuff
>Voodoo stuff
>Bayou and city environments
>Catfish, crawdad and alligator mutants
>Airboats
>Banjoes
>Gumbo
>Creepy inbred hillbillies like in Point Lookout
