Spinoff

Post » Sun Jul 31, 2011 3:55 am

You know what I would pay $60 for? An alternate version of Fallout: New Vegas which allows the Father Elijah faction to be one of the endings of New Vegas alongside Yes Man, House, NCR and Legion.

That thing on your wrist - it's a convenience. It tells you where to go, what to do, dulls the brain

Smartest thing Elijah said, because it's true!

While we're asking for new factions to side with, I demand a Toaster faction!

Fallout 3

Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout 4 next from Bethesda, not Obsidian.

So I'd have to say spin-off.

Hopefully, they only get one chance to spin.

I hope Fallout 4 takes its cues from New Vegas, because New Vegas was a much better Fallout experience, in my opinion.

Glad we couldn't have a thread without some Bethesda die hard coming in here and talking down on everyone.

The thing is Fallout is now owned by Bethesda so Fallout 3 isn't a spin off.

Fallout 3 isn't a spinoff, its a main game, but it has lore inconsistencies that need to be addressed and hopefully not repeated in Fallout 4, I am willing to give Bethesda the benefit of the doubt, its first Fallout game, hopefully New Vegas will serve as an example of certain things that should be in a Fallout game, hopefully they can address that and still make a game to suit most of the fans.

The things there doing in Skyrim could mean bad things for FO4.
What if they remove S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?

I hope they aren't that stupid, thinking their fans are stupid enough to be okay with that. I give them the benefit of the doubt that they aren't complete morons.

They're all spinoffs! ALL OF THEM! Even the orignal Fallout! Its a spinoff of itself! Its a spinoff within a spinoff! HAHAHA! :frog:

*goes insane*

Seriously though. It doesn't matter. They're all canon games and the term "spinoff" is just a word. I honestly don't mind if people call Fallout 3 a spinoff and I don't think it should matter with New Vegas either. It has no reflection on the quality of the game.

This. Although, they can rename it to "Fallout The Game That is a Sequel and is Canon" and I'll still consider FO3 a spinoff.
Welcome to the Dino side, young padawan. :spotted owl:

It's a canon spinoff, pure and simple.

Well you may consider it more of a main game the F3 but Bethesda considers it more of a main game than NV.

I however feel they're both major games even though I don't like NV...

Fallout 3: still doing just fine even without the help of all the haters.

People are WAY too concerend with "canon". Fallout 3 was badass and so was NV.

Ah yes, logic at its finest. Using some of your definitions, does it not also mean that ALL of the Elder Scrolls games except Arena is a spin-off of Arena? No, a spin-off is a game title that doesn't add to the main canon of Fallout and doesn't follow the era's gameplay style. Meaning Fallout 3 is NOT a spin-off because it was a start of a new style of gameplay for the series. Just like the GTA 4 era created a new style of gameplay than the GTA 3 era. Tactics was not a new era as the engine was the same and the gameplay was relatively similar to my knowledge to Fallout 1 and 2. So it's a spin-off due to it not continuing the story.

And I swear...people who say New Vegas is a spin-off really needs to play the game. New California Republic is in it, Marcus is in it, and the Vault Dweller is mentioned a few times. It's the second game of the Fallout 3 era of gameplay and the 4th game in the big picture.

Tactics was on a different engine than 1&2 since you could have more than one floor on the same map as well as being able to shoot over cover or duck behind it.

Bethesda made fo3, and they own the series. It is a perfectly wonderful game. One of the all-time greats if I do say so myself.
