Splash Damage Q & A: Answers To 8 Questions

Post » Thu Jan 06, 2011 4:25 am

It's about what I personally like. For me, it's not just about strategizing and outkilling/objective accomplishing the enemy. It is about using the guns you love while you do it. I really like the Caeser. The idea of only being able to have it on the Xbox, and even then only if Amazon doesn't fail me, annoys me.

Well, to each his own. The Caesar's sweet, though I'm guessing it's a Resistance-only gun, and I'm more of a Security guy myself.

I'm expecting Splash Damage to make all pre-order equipment available at some point. It's not very fair for those late to the party to be excluded from special promo gear just because they found the game late.

My thoughts exactly. I'd much rather have the Caesar then the Hockler (even though both are pretty sweet). I am still a little reluctant to preorder from Amazon from some of the stuff people are saying on here, but I probably will do it anyways. I also have talked to a few people I know personally about Amazon preordering and they said everything went fine for them, but their item(s) wasn't video games nor did it have a bonus that came with it.

No "Comms Hack"! No "Silent Running"! Final Destination.

Two thoughts:

#1. I have never had issues with pre-order bonuses and Amazon. I have no worries whatsoever with my Amazon pre-order; with WalMart, however, I have worries.

#2. I am aware of games where pre-order bonuses were *not* ever available later as DLC. I don't understand this as it seems like a great revenue opportunity, but it is so. Red Dead Redemption was one.

Well, I feel better about playing on Xbox 360 then, but I am annoyed that they would not make it publicly available later.

My worry is that it cancels out the sound for the user of the ability, I like to hear my footsteps and it feels weird when I can tell I'm jumping, sliding, vaulting but cant hear anything.

Heh, it's the complete opposite to me.
I don't want to hear my character, because I want to focus on everything else. And as I know what I'm doing, I don't need to hear what my character does.

No Operatives, No Soldiers, mediums only, Final Destination!

That means no competitive for you!

Same. Why do I want to hear me when it makes it harder to hear the guy around me running?

looks good but I'm never a fan of RADAR as it is always the first thing to get hacked and becomes hard to notice unless they are blatantly tracking through walls but the rest I like.

Seems like the intent is to have players who aren't used to listening for footsteps be able to hold their own vs FPS veterans. The bonus is that you can listen to music and still be aware of people running around.

yeah, unless you're fighting people like me whose first priority is to stay off the radar using silencers, silent footstep ability, and the combat sense that lets you know if you've been spotted........

That would be an issue for people who use their ears as well.

But I bet most people will use health or damage buffs of some sort, not caring so much about being invisible on the radar.........

With 20 skills to choose from, I expect that silent running will become more and more common as the skill of players you are facing goes up. Being able to sneak up on people is a very useful tool.

Agree. Stealth will be a huge advantage. Even with all the gripes about "bullets-to-kill," it looks like you'll still be able to waste someone before they even turn around if you can get the edge on them. (unless they have Combat Intuition active :P)

I'll use it depending on what I plan on doing tactically. If I plan on rolling with a group on the front lines, maintaining a rotating triad formation could be almost as effective, and free up a slot for something more useful. If I plan on slipping away, say if I'm playing engy, and I want to dip back to set up turrets, then I'd probably use combat intuition due to being isolated.

Don't forget too that a skilled Operative on your team can put his Comms Hack ability to good use, as well.

The thing I like about Combat Intuition is just because it tells you where a threat is, doesn't mean you can neutralize it. An accurate Operative, or one wielding a silenced shotgun, can still beat a guy with Combat Intuition when he aims in the right places.

Or any class, for that matter. However, it does give you some time to hop out of the way of a headshot or dive for cover in general. Especially if someone is taking their sweet time to line up a brain ventilator.

Edit: Inb4 "There's no snipers! There's no snipers!"

Yes, I know, but headshots still hurt more, and light rifles are more powerful than SMGs per shot, so :P
