Split Energy Bars

Post » Tue Oct 02, 2012 7:45 am

Hi its Kabs195 again here trying to ruin your day with bad news. Apparently Crytek wants to make Crysis 3 have separate energy bars for Stealth and Armor. But sprint would use no energy. I am one of cryteks biggest fan. Played and still play Crysis 1, Warhead, Crysis Wars on pc on max settings. I also play crysis 2 on pc and xbox 360. I have read Crysis Legion and own all the comics and a few action models. Yes you can call me a nerd and a no life. But I just have a huge passion for crysis. Crysis is about conserving energy and using tactics. But Crysis 3 seems to be making the game easier for new people. People who play Call of Duty and want to play a futuristic version. I trust Crytek with their decision but I just don't think Crysis will ever be the same. My major question is what happens when you run in stealth. Would the energy be depleted faster? But sprint does not use any energy. I see some of the Community Veterans, which I have full respect for and won't mention their names for privacy issues, also agree with me. I believe most people agree with me about this topic. If Crytek wanted to make the game a bit faster, why not make running use no energy but make armor and stealth use the same energy bar. I want to Start a Poll to see what the Crysis Community thinks. I am not saying you are wrong but I want you to convince players like me why the separate energy bars is a good idea. Respond to this topic. Go against me. Agree with me. I want to see what you think!

Love,
Kabs

It svcks because Crytek is now forcing us all to use stealth. No more armor-only gameplay.
I hope stealth will be vulnerable and slowing down player using it. Otherwise, that's gonna be 1 sh1tty game.

I want to the suit to run on one energy bar for stealth, armor, and sprinting/jumping. So I voted #2

What? The whole "skill" aspect of the Nanosuit revolves around everything using 1 energy bar, splitting the bars would be incredibly stupid. Energy usage is one of the key aspects of multiplayer that defines the learning curve...dumbing it down would do nothing but royally piss off your core fanbase, and trust me that's the last thing Crytek needs at this point.

If they're going to split the bars they might as well give everyone a gun with guided heat-seeking bullets, or a hand-held Orbital Strike gun that kills everyone with lag.

Stealth might as well be a spell that you cast that has a cooldown. #Nanowands

The two seperate bars are probably going to stay in the multiplayer because it allows for less experienced players to adjust to the new game. Crysis 2 was a very tough game for new people and the producer said it was in those first few hours where they either keep the players playing or the player loses interest. Another problem was people using stealth then going into a fire fight and have no suit energy, so the two bars will change that. But what makes me the most happy is decoupled Speed "mode". No more suit drain for power jumping, running, sliding. I can't wait to sink my teeth into this multiplayer.

I never liked the energy management aspect of the NanoSuit in the sense of gimping your other abilities. I rather like the more active downsides of being flashy as hell (Armor) or being SUPER weak (Stealth).

Also want to say, I didn't care for the energy management too, don't get me wrong it took a little skill, but with it gone now there will be less camping. Everyone in this game camps when there suit is drained, there is nothing else you can really do when that happens. So hopefully people in Crysis 3 will have less full drains of their suit. Therefore less camping.

i like the idea of increasing the chance to win a fire fight based on skill rather than losing it because i ran out of energy.
how many times have people died from not being able to move after having energy drained and not because of bad energy management?

i think there will still be good energy management needed.
in the hunter demo i think the 2 separate bars only made up the size of the current energy bar.
alot of people wanted normal running speed without energy consumption and now we have it. i think separate bars will work well.

It has its advantages and disadvantages. Separate bars means no more losing all energy because you were shot in cloak. Less camping because you wasted all your energy sprinting while cloaked. It allows more strategic gameplay, along with the new perk system. You can choose your perks to effect your armor more for the gunning part and use cloak for the running part. Or if you're a more stealthy person, select your perks to represent that and use armor when you're caught off guard. And it's not that sprinting doesn't take energy, its that it's now unlimited, which is fair because the map sizes will be bigger, you wouldn't want to run out of energy half way through the map.

Honestly there was absolutely no need to change the energy system, but IDK, separate bars could work well if they implement it well (knowing game devs these days, I doubt that)

No matter what, Crysis will be my favorite franchise of them all. But I thought Crysis 3 would be an improvement of Crysis 2. Fixing the bugs. Fixing the AI. More weapons. More vehicles. More open maps. Different Environment. But Crytek took it a step further than I expected. I just dont know if they are making the right choice. I agree with people saying that I cant comment on this new system until we see gameplay. Who knows, maybe this is exactly new system is what Crysis needs. Crytek even said Crysis 3 wont be the last game. There will be a Crysis 4 and 5. So if they mess up in Crysis 3, at least we know they will improve Crysis 4. Please keep posting. Soon next week I will make a Chart on reasons why the new system is a good idea and bad. I am happy I am not the only one who believes this and I am especially happy that people are giving great reasons why it may be a good reason. It helps people like me to move on. Thank You SDub and All the Community Veterans for all your help.

Love,

Kabs

And this is why, no matter what, every game will keep getting worse and worse.

Seriously dude, have some spine.
