SPOILER: My assumption of Mr. House's Identity

Post » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:32 pm

Okay, before you respond after reading this post, please keep in mind that I've only gotten past the quest "The House Always Wins I" (I haven't done too much of the main quest yet, but I've done a lot of other stuff), and this is just a huge assumption. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying this makes sense to me. Please don't tell me whether I'm right or wrong about it, I don't want it spoiled. I haven't even visited this forum until now since release day to avoid spoilers, and I may not even read this thread after I've posted it just in case someone decides to spoil any surprises for me.

Now, for my hypothesis:

Spoiler

I think Dr. Mitchell is Mr. House. I just came to this realization when I decided to visit the doctor. He slightly resembles him from the picture of him on the computer in the Lucky 38 in my opinion. And Dr. Mitchell said he had something taken from him, but you aren't told what it was, you're left to wonder what it was. If he was Mr. House, that thing that was stolen from him would be the Platinum Chip. I don't know, there just always seemed to be something peculiar to me about Dr. Mitchell, like he didn't seem like any wasteland doctor, he seemed to be a lot more to me. And Victor, who is of course a robot from Mr. House, happens to bring you to Dr. Mitchell, and Doctor Mitchell is somehow able to revive you after you've been shot in the head. That seems somewhat miraculous to me, miraculous just like Mr. House's method of staying alive hundreds of years after the war when he was from before the war.

I'm probably wrong, and I'm probably not thinking about a bunch of other factors that would make this conclusion impossible, and keep in mind that I just came to this conclusion in just a few seconds of thinking, but it just makes sense to me now that I think about it. Anyway, I may not read this topic after I've posted it, and may not come back here until I've finished the game at least once, but I just thought I'd post this hypothesis.

Spoiler

He is an old man hooked up to a neurological machine like in the movies Surrogates and the Matrix, his mind is in the machine, he does not need to eat or sleep, he is the machine, his life is the machine.

Whoops, sorry for putting that in the General Discussion forum, I didn't realize there was other parts of the New Vegas forum now that the game has been released, and I already had the link to the General Discussion forum bookmarked, so I posted it there. My bad.

So, who is Dr. Mitchell, REALLY?

Just a survivor from Vault 21 (The Hotel in NV).

He left Vault 21 and wandered around for a while. Went back and married his wife.

His wife died, and he settled in Good Springs.

The Twins (or brother and sister) running Vault 21 Hotel and The Signs Shop have conversation in regards to knowing Dr. Mitchel.

Nope.

I just assumed it was his wife.

Er... he's talking about losing his wife, I thought that was obvious.

Yeah. It is. You can go back and get the story after visiting vault 21. It's nothing exciting though.

Spoiler
His story checks out. Michael Angelo from the Sign shop at the strip will tell you about him. He's from the same Vault as Michael Angelo.

The OP's idea was very cool though. I agree with the other poster; way better idea than the truth.
