*SPOILER* The Brotherhood of Steel

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:55 pm

In the new launch trailer, it confirms that the Brotherhood is against the Institute. It also portrays it's main leader talking.

Is this Arthur Maxson?

Why is Lyon's Brotherhood against the Institute? Has Maxson lead the Brotherhood back to the original codex?

Speculations?

Lyon's BoS never abandoned the codex. They just put some issues (protecting the humanity) a tad bit higher than others (tech collection). Besides, very few in BoS even approved of Lyon's decisions and most of those who did were Wasteland recruits and his daughter so once he died, the BoS would likely become more like their old self again.

But I doubt that even Lyons would allow something as dangerous as The Institute to exist.

If that is the case, it is awesome! Gives me hope that Sarah Lyons will return aswell. Or maybe Maxson is just leading that part of the expedition? But if he is that old Owen Lyons is probably dead.

The BoS probably isn't too hot on the idea of robot armies and artificial intelligence. I'm pretty sure Fallout Tactics isn't canon anymore, but they can still draw inspiration from it. The BoS traveled to the Capitol Wasteland in part to investigate reports of Super Mutants, which they were on the lookout for because they recognized the threat that The Master had posed. They would be equally worried about reports of autonomously acting androids after the whole Vault 0 fiasco (assuming they utilize it).

It's been ten years since the events of Fallout 3, would he be THAT old looking?

Bethesda has said the high level events of tactics are canon.

And a group of BoS in Chicago was talked about twice in Fallout 3.

assuming he was 14 or 15 in fallout 3. He would be 24-25 in fallout 4. Some people just look older, but you're right. It may not be him based on how he looks

In Fallout 3, Maxson was like....9-10 years old maybe? That would make him 20? Definately not old enough to look THAT grizzled and that many hints of grey.

Also he likely would not be a paladin. That guy does look like someone with an agenda, though. Speaks like a Hardliner, too, not that likeable. I reserve judgement though, but we might have a neutral BoS.

The Wasteland isn't exactly forgiving when it comes to looks. Willing to bet my Nvidia 690 I'm selling its him.

Without evidence, I think he's high ranked and on his own kind of crusade, a la Elder Lyons.

Edit: lest we forget, DC is Super Mutant central. He's been fighting Behemoths and Overlords since he was of battle age. How good are you going to look after a super sledge or twelve to the face? Even with helmets and power armor, we've seen how far a Behemoth hydrant can send someone flying.

I wouldn't say unlikeable. He sounds passionate, a man with a mission, and he's giving a speech designed to get his point across and inspire the troops. He sounds like someone who's seen firsthand some heavy stuff, or experienced something with the Institute to warrant that level of vitriol.

Usually BoS winning is the "good" ending. This time I'm not so sure.

Lyon's chapter did not give the original BoS style of life, he just tweaked it a bit.

When he did go to DC, he passed through the Pitt and killed the slavers and everyone who was infected.

The sight of the pitt , was a waking up call for Lyon.

While still looking for tech, Lyon took the task to actually improve a bit the life of the people in DC.(Project purity for ex)

BoS was pictured as knights in shinning armor in FO3, players that actualy know more about the lore, knew that isn't actualy true.

The BoS stick mostly to their own, makes only contact with people if they can get tech, get food or kill. If you don't have anything to offer, they won't lift a finger...

Which is why I prefer the Lyons chapter, personally. Opinions be opinions.

I find the classic BOS mentality that of the selfish player, "what's in it for me?" while sitting on a pile of tech and supplies.

I don't like forced canon :/ not everyone in their canon playthrough has Sarah Lyons alive. I'm sure most, including me, do, but still.

Actually, I don't think there is a canon where she dies, right? After Broken Steel she's still alive, even if you blow the Citadel to bits?

Derp. Duh.

For some reason, I remembered at his her not knowing what happened or something went wrong, blaming you, but being unable to prove it. Weird, how memory does that.

If you sent her into the Purifier instead of going in yourself she dies.

I was thinking Maxson too. But the age might be a little off. Either way, sign me up. Depending on their agendas I'll either be rolling with the BoS or the Minutemen with Neutral Karma.
