Spoiler: The year has been confirmed

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:41 pm

Yeah i like that approach too.

I hate how like say Forgotten Realms, the time line don't move foward.

And 10 years is not to bad for time forwarding, gives some mention from prevoius games to some degree.

I still like to hear stuff from the past games I played to the futere games in a reason matter of time, though we probably wont mention about the courier but who knows.

Their is only one good thing about this new disappointing news,

Bethesda will likely allow us to annihilate the entire May Steel be with you! division in Fallout 4. Thank you for allowing us to do that in Fallout 3 Bethesda, thank you.

Indeed. But more importantly, that means Sarah Lyons...sorry Piper.

Very true, she's like what 36? The SS might be anywhere from mid-twenties to early 30s? That means we're probably going to run into and romance plenty of people older than us, but also not older than us. O-o

Technically... The SS will be older than anyone who isn't a ghoul.

I pegged the male protag to be in his 30's somewhere. Close enough.

Well yeah but that's what makes it weird, who will actually realize that and behave accordingly? It's unlikely someone like a griseled old raider would yield to the SS reasoning on the basis that he's techically older than them.

Gonna be neat to see the nuances of interactions, unless of course they don't even bother brushing on the subject. >_>

"Who sets a cryo chamber to 210 years later?

I've eaten my share of crow because I was in the exactly 200 years camp, but I'm not going to bust any balls because Bethesda said 200 years instead of 210 years.

They do need to protect the story line and 210 years is only 5% off 200 years.

It does set up some interesting situations.

For example Dr Li has been at the Institute for almost 10 years.

The is long enough for her to move up the academic ladder.

One in the same. I defended the 200 year point, but I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong.

Besides, when you think about it, I'm sure we all hoped it would be later rather than coinciding with Fallout 3.

Now we know. And knowing is half the battle.

Makes me wonder how she travel there by and how long does it take to travel there.

Could she helped the BOS make funcional vertibirds and travel by it?

I'm just glad we can stop with the dumb debates about a two word response from Pete Hines. :tops:

Now we have actual in-game confirmation about the setting. Which is what I've been waiting for all along.

Well its not as disappointing as I made it sound, the BoS in Boston are going to kickass either way, I mean the gameplay trailers don't lie.

Its just that a lot of us were kind of hoping for MwBoS or some other division, now we have no speculation anymore. We have 0 speculation to speculate about, the 2287 year, anything could happen. I am now in the club that it is more likely Lyon's, and a 20 year old Arthur Maxson could very well be leading them. Id rather it be MwBoS, but its so doubtful now.

But whoever doesn't like the BoS division in Boston doesn't haft to side with them, so that is good. I am hoping for some change though, I don't want a goody good save the people BoS division (Lyon's) in Boston, but what can you do.

It be funny if the dude slept in game time for 10 years to throw off the time line and when we play it it's not really 2287. :lmao: :ahhh:

I've always imagined Arthur as growing up to be a Scribe or the brains behind the operations while the brawn of the Paladins go out to execute his commands... However, A lot can change in ten years and even characters like the bookish Rhaegar Targaryen can become powerful warriors. I've also assumed that, unless Bethesda is going to be edgy and end the line at Arthur Maxson when you bring down the Prydwen, that he hits up Sarah Lyons and gets her pregnant with his kid to ensure the family line goes on before heading on out to Boston for whatever reason. Plus it would be a logical move for the peaceful passage of power. Lyon's dies and Maxson marries Sarah making his claim even more legitimate both through his own blood and marriage to the daughter of the great leader who established the BoS in the East.

As much as I know its unlikely, I really hope the timeskip allows SOME information from the south to make it north.

I find it so annoying we know how the western U.S. is doing, we have some idea how the Midwest is doing, and we know the east coast has civilization of some kind from Boston to the Carolinas. But we have no idea how Texas/Louisiana/Mississippi area is doing. It's like a giant barrier has prevented people from going down there.

I would kinda laugh though if Fallout 6 was set in New Orleans, and in it, we find out that civilization collapsed in western Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Alabama, and so the people in New Orleans, and the eastern Texas cities like Houston and Dallas/Ft. worth, think they are the only civilization left since its just hundreds of miles of wilderness in all directions around them.

From a lore perspective, yes it does, but that depends on the circumstances of other areas of the US. But I would assume the reason why we don't hear anything about these regions is to keep possibilities open for more sequels for locations. We did hear a fair bit about the Commonwealth in Fallout 3 which could mean that we'll hear a lot more about another area of the Post-Apocalyptic America for the next Fallout game.

If I recall, doesn't Texas have wicked bad radioactive windstorms according to John Cassidy in Fallout 2? The sheer size of America alone makes it rare to hear from other sides on the continent and making it back and forth alive would be real challenging.

Not so much a barrier, more like the wasteland itself.

It's more like people are more concerned about day to day survival and their own business, than wasting time trying to find out how the rest of the country is doing. 200 years later, your everyday wastelander doesn't know what a "Texas" is. Or what a "New Orleans" is ((regarding wastelanders living in Boston or DC, or even California)), or whether or not there was an Old Orleans.

Those that choose to explore the Wasteland beyond their own borders, and the dangers that lurk there, are the crazy ones. Then again, they are the one's who get stories told about them around the campfire.

I know they aren't talking about it because of not wanting to set lore down this far ahead. It just bothers me a little because its my state, and one would think the state with the second largest population, and a large number of major city centers would have managed something by now if those guys over in Cali could do it.

Na, Cassidy said the Midwest is a giant radioactive dust bowl, and that they have twisters miles wide. He doesn't say anything about Texas other then wondering if it survived the war at all.

Not really, I do love me my Game of Thrones but the same principles apply in any power structure really and especially in Post-Apocalyptic America. Why would the Eastern BoS merely accept some snot-nosed kid as leader because his genetics is from a man they've only read about in books? It's pretty clear that Lyons has obtained immense amount of respect and power to the point where he has his faction of the BoS is willingly going against the revered, unquestioned dogma of the codex and causing a split of opinion. It's safe to assume that some of the newer members may idolize Lyons in the same light as most of the BoS idolize and revere Roger Maxson and his death would undoubtedly be viewed as a power struggle between the Old Brotherhood represented through the bloodline of Maxson or the New Brotherhood represented through the bloodline of Lyons.

It would just make so much sense for the two bloodlines to combine, it would lend the Lyon's linage an incredible legitimacy as the staying ruling force in the East not just from the perspective of the Eastern Brotherhood but the Western as well and quell any power struggle or ideas any newer, more bold-minded idealist that the new Brotherhood may foster. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the intent of Lyon's, which would be another reason why he would send the boy out to be taught by Sarah in life-or-death situations. Besides her being the most skilled Brotherhood member of course.
