-SPOILERS- Argonia a contender?

Post » Fri Jun 25, 2010 1:35 am

Do you even know why they left Summerset in the first place? Read up on your history a bit; the dunmer are far more likely to join up with men than the altmer. In fact, read up on the whole history and culture of every race at http://www.imperial-library.info/ Just because they're elves, doesn't mean they're going to like each other.

Well, MK gave a little snippet of what's to come, and that is the nords are actually going to be very helpful to the dunmer people on Solsthiem.

can you state your reasons why?the only one I can think of is they left to live a better life

NO! They most certainly did not leave because "they wanted to live a better life." They left for religious reasons, because they pretty much believed in the opposite of merish thought. The whole Veloth thing, you know. Read up on your TES history, because anything you may say is most likely going to be born out of ignorance.

@xXAntibodyXx, I don't remember the exact thread, but here's the MK quote:
You're welcome. The largesse of the Nords towards their ancient enemies is one of my favorite ideas coming out of Red Year.

And so you don't need to go to dictionary.com, largesse means liberal giving (as of money) to or as if to an inferior, or generosity.

I read it out of the pocket handbook and I know about Veloth. I was going to compare to the pilgrims who came to America but stopped.

To quote:

It was about this time that many Aldmer left Summerset to settle the mainland of Tamriel. There was probably no single reason for this second exodus of the Aldmer, but some evidence, such as the famed Ramoran Tapestries - the very ones that show some of the creatures mentioned above - show how untouched and beautiful the mainland was considered to be by the Aldmer. Expeditions, such as those taken by Topal the Pilot and others, had painted an image in their minds of a great land where even workers, at the lowest end of the Summerset hierarchy could live as kings. The Prophet Veloth was among those who led a group of discontented Aldmer away from Summerset to a new promised land.

Thanks, though I don't know if I should feel insulted about the dictionary.com thing, or thankful that you saved me some time. :lmao:

Yes I know why they left, but that was a long time ago. And your right in that they wouldn't join elves just because they're elves too, but at the same time I don't see why they would join with men. The Dunmer are battered and beaten. They need a friend to stand with them. If you were in their shoes would you really side with men? Seeing as the Nords and orcs hit them hard in a war that just ended not to long ago. And they never liked the empire so I don't see them running to the Imperials for help. If I were in their place I would side with the Altmer. At least until my people were back on their feet. But maybe we're reading to much in to this. Maybe they don't need allies as bad as I think they do. Maybe they can hold Solstheim by themselves. Hell I could even see them taking back large parts of Morrwind since the people that pushed them out have been hit pretty hard themselves.

They've coveted Morrowind, yes, and waged war on the Dunmer...but I feel their essential humanity and pity on their beaten foes will outweigh the bad blood. Morrowind will be uninhabitable for the foreseeable future anyway.

The Dunmer are now a Pariah folk as the Orcs once were.

Why would the Nords do that? If they are smart they will hit the enemy while they're down, and take back the land they believe to be theirs. Pity? not likely.

Take back their land?

You mean that uninhabitable wasteland surrounded by boiling seas?

What possible political advantage would they gain by attacking a miserable and displaced people? Such an act would be condemned as brutality by Titus Mede and the Empire, most likely. Many fine Dunmer serve in the Legions and in other positions in Tamriel. Nords would do well to bury the hatchet at least for the time being. There's nothing to be gained by attacking a foe which can't fight back. The Nords don't hate the Dunmer THAT much. Their wars were always over land..it's not about pure hatred or genocide. If anything, once the oceans cool down and the ash settles, I could imagine the Dunmer and Nords working together to drive out the Argonians, whom they'd likely see as a common enemy.

I nice try at an end around but you cannot have any kind of discussion about the current state of Argonia or Morrowind without reffering to the Landfall...it is what is homeslice...

Why? because without it there is no state of Argonia to discuss and therefore no Elder Scrolls world events to talk about , and I would welcome a mudcrab talk anyways, cause mudcrabs are always interesting...

Welcome to the new era of Lore sunshine.

I saw some down by the river today...

Probably. Morrowind and Black Marsh combined would make a pretty big province. Remember though, northern Morrowind was destroyed, while southern Morrowind was just fine... until the Argonians came and slaughtered the rest of the Dunmer there. So it's pretty much all under their control, I can't see a reason why they wouldn't become one big province. As for becoming a dangerous faction, I don't think the Argonians will do any more invading unless the Hist feel like it. They only reason they invaded Morrowind is because the Dunmer enslaved them for so long. They don't have any reason to invade Elsweyr, for example.

Im siding with Antibody. I dont think that theres any risk of seeing an Argonian super-power conquering Tamriel. Theyve always prefered the quiet life in the swamps of Black Marsh, and I think theyll stay there unless someone threatens them.

But to be honest, I found it very amusing to read that the Argonians crossed the border and butchered any Dunmer they could find. I hope their ancient traditions were worth it.

I don't think so. I think Umbriel has done a lot of damage to their land. Whatever advantage they had its lost. I think they're going to spend the next few years rebuilding and getting rid of all those undead.

I don't think so. If one is to look at a map of one province, Umbriel would just be a dot moving in a straight line from Lilmoth to Vivec. The Undead army is not that big yet and is mainly composed of Argonians and some Dunmer refugees it caught on the way to Vivec.

Vuhon's intent is to land Umbriel into the Imperial City so my guess is that he will do another straight line from Vivec to the IC and get rid of Clavicus Vile's curse. Not the end of the world as we know it.

Personally I hope the Nerevarine comes back from Akavir and gives every Argonian a damn good spearing.
What if the Nerevarine is an Argonian himself? :P

That's what I'm talking a long time. Indeed, speaking as some spoke now, does the TESV will show the Nords invading and conquering Morrowind?

Just for taking revenge on the Dunmer for enslaving Argonians for so long? I find this strange, espcially since you used to feature an argonian on your avatar. Then again, taking sutch revenge doesn't prove them any better than the Dunmer that enslaved them.
